In your estimate, what percentage of your Civil War miniature gaming is done with the popular Fire & Fury rules?

80 percent…although I'll occasionally play Black Powder with some friends since they already know those rules and I haven't been able to get them to focus on F&F…bastards.

0%, unless somebody ran those rules in the handful of ACW games I have played at cons.

For context, most of my ACW games are played using Call of Cthulu. However, I just got a good book on the B&O in the ACW, so if I can do some mid 19th century trainjackings, I'm in!

Florida Tory30 Jul 2018 2:34 p.m. PST

33%, mostly RFF.

The rest is split more or less evenly between skirmish gaming and ironclads.

Lately 0%. The group I game with has made the transition to Carnage & Glory II ACW and we haven't looked back.

Okiegamer30 Jul 2018 3:04 p.m. PST

Played the brigade level 100% for over 20 years and really loved it. Finally gave up on it as it's too slow and attritional for large games at home, or even medium sized ones at clubs or cons. Have never gotten into the regimental level because he added too much detail and lost the simple elegance of the original system. The 2nd ed. brigade rules have the same failing. Still, it was a very innovative set of rules and a big step forward in the hobby.

Pan Marek30 Jul 2018 3:08 p.m. PST

Okie- Try the new Brigade level rules. Units die much faster. They've been a boon to our Thursday night pickup games.

We use Larry Brom's "A Glint of Bayonets" for our 25mm larger battles and "The Sword and Flame" supplement "The Sword and Secession" for our 25mm skirmish games. Currently I'm painting 15mm troops to be used with "On to Richmond" rules.

F&F – 20% OTR – 80%

langobard31 Jul 2018 1:38 a.m. PST

OTR is my preferred set of brigade level rules for 1 to 4 players, but most of the games I'm playing at the moment have more players and are a mix of F&F, RF&F and Black Powder when we are playing 28mm.

Probably at the moment its about 2/3rds F&F and 1/3 OTR or BP.

advocate31 Jul 2018 2:25 a.m. PST

Don't play ACW at that scale. Or any other, recently.

ACWBill31 Jul 2018 4:41 a.m. PST

60% of my gaming is ACW, 20% other horse and musket. Of that 90% is done with either Regimental or Brigade Fire & Fury.

I keep thinking that I'm gonna try some other rule sets but then I hardly do.

RFF is a great rule set.

I have the BFFv2, but haven't gotten around to it.

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP31 Jul 2018 11:08 a.m. PST

0%. Love the concepts. Great looking set of rules. One of the early ones to set a new standard for quality! Just not happy with the way that you move and treat brigades like a regiment. RFF is probably something that would interest me more.

Thanks.

About 80% of the games I play. The rest are home brew or the host choice of rules.
