Since there's little hope of registering for the ToB forum, I'll ask here:

In Death of Glory, it states that cavalry dismount as patrol stands (rule 24.1.1).

In the baseline WWII Command Decision rules, patrol stands are self-ordering (Rule 24.1) – but can only be formed from recon stands.

Back to Death of Glory, some cavalry stands are neither recon nor command stands, so the question is – do regular cavalry stands dismount as a self-ordering patrol stand or do they still require an order from a command stand?

Howdy,

Thanks to Daniel Erdman for pointing out your post.

A cavalry squadron has four stands, A command stand, 1 or 2 recon cavalry stands, and a cavalry stand or stands. The recon stands are self-ordering.

The recon cavalry stand(s) should dismount to self-ordering patrol(s). The command cavalry remains a command stand after dismounting to command the other dismounted stand(s). The status of the stands as self-ordering or not, does not change when they dismount.

If you chose to make them all self-ordering, it would work.

Good luck with your games.

Ponder on,

That's how I've played it – no change in self ordering when dismounted. Thanks.

Mind you I also play it that any two dismounted cavalry patrol stands (within a squadron) can combine into a full-size stand. So:

Command + recon or regular cavalry patrol = command infantry
Recon + regular cavalry patrol = recon infantry
2 regular = infantry

with only the latter requiring an order to combine.

Cheers

Paul

That's correct, dismounted cavalary patrols can combine to form an infantry stand. Top left, page 22.

Where are you geographically?

Email to that address bounced, undeliverable, written out as: pchouinard at Rogers dot com

Oh, I love auto-correct. "ac punt" should be "account".

So far no email including spam folder but email is slowing up these days.

Double check…

My email is "pchouinard" at "rogers" dot "com" which was used to register at ToB

Should not have bounced. But who knows these days. Email approaches snail mail efficiency.

JAS,

Sent a test email from another account and it's working. Can only suggest to check spelling.

Can try this email "chouinard" dot "p1" at "forces" dot "gc" dot "ca" or. equivalently, "paul" dot "Chouinard" at "forces" dot "gc" dot "ca" – they are the same email with two different aliases.

Trying again, seem to have mistyped – JAS
