We all need a cup of moral fibre every now and then, and the British Empire ran on tea before everything went soft and coffee-based. Sp what is your favourite cuppa when on the (tabletop) battlefield? For me its a nice cup of Earl Grey, although a decent cup of "builders" hits the spot too How about you? |

So much to choose from! I like a Murchies #22 Blend (a black & green blend), Himalayan or a Lady Londonderry… of course all we have at the club is Red Rose (Canada's slightly superior (in my opinion) answer to Lipton's or Twinings). |

My most used at home is Scottish Blend but not when in London, the difference of the water makes a huge difference. Twinings English breakfast most used in London. To say they are favourites might be wrong as I like to try different teas as much as I can. x42 |

Loose leaf tea. Anything in a bag (horror!) is anathema. I prefer Indian, preferably from Ceylon. Arakai Estate is marvellous but I'm not sure it's available outside the Antipodes. I would rather drink Bovril than Earl Grey. |

BTW "Billy tea", for some reason, is always good. The locals make a fire from Eucalypt wood, suspend a "billy" (fire blackened tin with a handle) over it. When the water, from a clear spring, boils, you throw in a few handfuls of almost any black tea you have. A gum leaf is also put in to "take the bitterness out". It needs to be drunk from a chipped enamel mug. I can't attest to the "science" but I know the tea is simply great. |

I really liked this concoction some sort of flower and watermelon green tea, that was tasty. But it was only available in Oslo, out here in redneck country, I'm happy with twinings green tea and forest fruits. |

Rooibos tea is my favourite, with another local tea Heuningbos (Honeybush) being a close second. Twinings or Liptons for Ceylon tea, especially the lemon flavored Liptons. |

I'm brewing a pot of Royal Jasmine Quya as we speak. It is quite delightful. For something more assertive I like Lapsang Souchong, a smoked Chinese black tea – not for faint of heart, certainly, but delicious for those who like a whiff of smoke in their comestibles. Speaking of black tea…I worked for a time in China in the early 90s, and one thing that I heard again and again, from the Chinese themselves, was that when China was forced to give up enormous amounts of tea to the British and other foreign devils, they, being Chinese, made d***d sure they only gave up the cheap stuff (generally black varieties) and kept all the good stuff (generally greens) for themselves. That, they explained, was why the British and Americans drink black tea to this day. While this is probably apocryphal it does make a good story! And it's true most Chinese of my acquaintance thought Western tea awful and stuck exclusively to green varieties. Myself, I love the black stuff too, especially a strong Irish Breakfast. Every once and a while an Earl Grey is tasty, but the bergamot can overpowers things. Right then, things should be brewed and the teapot beckons! |

I enjoy so many varieties of tea that it is hard for me to pick just one. In fact, when I lost my baby teeth, they were all tea stained (no joking). My son is now following in his father's footsteps. He just turned five years old and he drinks tea with every meal. The biggest point of contention between my wife and I is over our preferred beverages. I married into a family of Cowboys and Indians so my wife and my in-laws are all coffee drinkers. As a concession to maintain a happy marriage, I now usually drink coffee in the morning (as I am at this moment) -- but it's just not the same as tea. |

A good robust cup for me. And many of them throughout the day. Yorkshire bags are pretty good, or Assam loose leaf. Occasionally, mix a bit of Earl Grey in for a refreshing change. Much like Kevin C, I married a Texan, from a family of dyed-in-the-wool coffee drinkers. Making in-roads, every now and then they ask me to brew them a cup! Happy to say the kids take after their dad. |

Guayaki brand of yerba maté for me. I refill the maté three or four times on a typical morning. Green tea when I'm driving (usually Tazo Zen -- I'm such a @#$%@# yuppie) (as if the yerba maté didn't establish that). Black tea with ginseng when I have to stay up late working. And once in a while, English breakfast tea with something sweet, usually on a winter weekend afternoon at home with my wife. I used to drink a lot of kukicha, but since Fukushima, I've been avoiding Japanese teas. Or did you mean, what kind of tea do you like when painting and making miniatures? That is usually my usual green tea. I do drink coffee, being half Finnish and all American, but not nearly as much as I drink tea. Not like my late (and very Finnish) mom, who couldn't sleep if she didn't have a cup of coffee at 10 pm. |
