Are there any forums for these rules. |

There used to be a board, but it was eliminated when crusader publishing changed sites. Mark said he was looking to get it up and running again, but nothing yet. Too bad, It had some very useful discussions on the rules… Patrick |

As written, a two deep line will have the same fire ability as a 3 deep line of the same strength. There is a further problem that a column, which is really only 1/3 to 1/4 the length of a line had half the line. So 600 in two deep is 600 firing vs 3 deep line with 400 but are equal. A french column will present only 140 muskets (or as low as 100 for 4 company formation) presented. So is there an "official" answer. The easy fix for the columns is just don't let them shoot. That's not their purpose anyhow, and some rule sets do that. Not sure about 2 deep. |

The rules make no distinction between 2 and 3 deep lines. The only thing I can suggest if you feel you need to make the distinction is to reduce the combat value of the unit when in line. For example, a 3 rank unit with a CV of 3 in column has a CV of 6 when in line. You could arbitrarily reduce that to 5. How this would then impact Melee combat I don't know? |

If you want a simple distinction, either have a +1 fire modifier for 2 rank or a -1 for 3 rank infantry. CV doesn't change. |
