Quick question…..does the Warlord Games Winter Infantry plastic kit have a head wearing the Budenovka cap? (That's the ridiculous looking pointed hat they wore early in the war) I've seen photos of the sprues in that box, and it looks as if one of the heads on the body sprue might have a Budenovka. But with my aging eyesight I can't tell. I recently saw a photo of a Soviet officer wearing a Budenovka and a padded Telogreika jacket. That's a combination I have never seen before. But it looks cool and I want to model one of the officers in my early war Soviet collection after the photo.
Thanks all! |

no, not that I remember. They do have some of the early type helmets if memory serves. |

Sadly no. And only 1 pre-war helmet per sprue. If anyone knows of a source of heads with the Budenovka in the UK/Europe I would love to know because then I could get on with Soviets for the Winter War with Finland. |

Ah well. I was hoping. Now finding a Budenovka clad head will be complicated by the need to match the scale of body due to unmatched scales caused by using different companies…. Warlord are relatively beefy figures. I think I will try some Copplestone Casting Russian Civil War reds to decapitate. That might work, but it's obviously not a sure thing. Another option might be Shapeways. Here, for example, are some heads that might work and are less expensive than buying a pack of Copplestone figures just for one head.

Thanks for the Shapeways link. I've gone down that route since I want 100 hats. The Coppertone heads should work depending on the figure you want to match. |
