In a radical reform of Argentina's defense doctrine, President Mauricio Macri said Monday he is removing a ban on military involvement in fighting crime, terrorist threats and other internal security issues.

Macri said he will modify a 2006 decree that limited the armed forces to defense against attacks by another country…

Oh, dear.

Armand, keep your head down!

That's not good.
Argentina needs a Posse Comitatus.

Pure chopped paper … cotillon … pop corn …

The Argentine land forces totally 20,000 men … some 3,000 would be sent to the northern border (Bolivia-Paraguay-Brazil) … only as "logistical support" … without the use of weapons of war … that is. .. with the use of radars, drones (if any) … logistics … etc …

What they really want to do is sell some of the 84 military barracks that are in disuse (the Argentine armed forces of land used to be 100,000 men) and whose land is very valuable … to raise money … the International Monetary Fund demands …

Using the armed forces against drug trafficking does not work … it has already been demonstrated in Mexico …

Do you know how many tanks are in use in Argentina? … five! … how many warplanes? (15,000 men) … twelve! … how many boats in use? … six! (12,000 men) …

Speaking of Armed Forces in Argentina is a joke ….

Don't worry dear Falkland cousins… we never return there….maybe as turist… if you agree… (smile)

Nobody in the Falklands is worried about this. It's the "internal security" aspect though – shades of the 70s and early 80s…

Yeah, I'm more worried about your internal security and seeing the Army turned loose on peaceful protesters than invasions.

Posse Commitatus is a major part of US law for that reason.

Tango0124 Jul 2018 9:52 p.m. PST

Don't worry about that… any chance was dead since 1983…

The drug dilers is a problem that is getting serious … not as much as in other countries … but there is a deep concern for its growth … it is true that the borders of the North are a strainer for the income of drugs … and that the National Gendarmerie can not control it …especially when every day it is discovered that the Kirtcherista rulers who still remain in their posts (councilors, mayors, police chiefs and even some governors) are the main partners of drug lords …
