When is this coming out?

Beowulf Fezian20 Jul 2018 9:01 a.m. PST

Scale? 6mm?

Pictors Studio20 Jul 2018 9:05 a.m. PST

Sometime this year apparently.

Heroic 6mm if GW follows their trends!

oooh, those boards might be temping…..

Insomniac20 Jul 2018 9:59 a.m. PST

I've heard it's 10mm (probably so it doesn't fit with the old stuff)…

… But it is wonderful to behold :) .

teboj1720 Jul 2018 10:00 a.m. PST

The scale is bigger then their old epic lines. Any mention of a price for this new box set?

The Epic Gamer20 Jul 2018 10:06 a.m. PST

$160 USD for the box set in the first picture.

Scale is 7.5mm (aka 1:4 of the 40k models).

The fan-made 3d sculpts that have been around for the past 10 years are 6mm (1:5 of the 40k models).

The terrain will be useful (assuming the places where you can pop a stand are at least 40mm) and the Titans are close enough to use with the fan-made, EA-era and E40k-era stuff. They probably won't work with the SM/TL era titans though. Those Warlords are 2.5 to 3" tall…

Moonbeast20 Jul 2018 10:08 a.m. PST

"When is this coming out?"

August.

Wackmole920 Jul 2018 10:10 a.m. PST

is the master set going to be a limited release?

Moonbeast20 Jul 2018 10:13 a.m. PST

"is the master set going to be a limited release?"

I don't believe so, but I can't confirm. I'll want two.

mad monkey 120 Jul 2018 11:15 a.m. PST

Does August include Gencon? I can only hope…

Garand20 Jul 2018 11:27 a.m. PST

I've been waiting for this! Going to set aside some bonus money to pick this up.

Also Batteltech starter set may be out in August too, so an expensive month hobby-wise…

Damon.

Mad monkey. I hope so as a VIG it's early access that's the only booth I plan on hitting

We have been talking about this, all us old school Epic guys … old fart Been doing Epic since '90 myself. Don't need any more titans but I do like the terrain.

FYI, the original Epic was 6mm-1/300 but the Titans were 1/500. The new titans are 8mm[not 10mm] and much more in scale with the original Epic 6mm troops, vehicles, etc. So they very much "dwarf" the original titans. But the new titans will be very expensive … frown Good thing I don't need anymore … evil grin

Scroll thru and see some comparison pics on Tac Cmd > link

Yes, have so many plastic Titans, saved from spending more monies.

If they release any of the Heroic 6mm squishies, that would be quite welcome!

David Johansen21 Jul 2018 9:26 a.m. PST

I think it kind of defeats the point of making smaller models. They should just make a 28mm plastic Warlord titan.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP22 Jul 2018 6:36 a.m. PST

Never been a fan of 28mm titans[generally never a fan of 40K scale either !] Some one made 28mm titans, etc., IIRC … Just makes it that much clearer that the 40K ranges are even farther out of scale with the models. And you'd have to play on a basketball court or in your back yard. LOL !!!!! laugh

Of course IMO, the best scale to play anything larger that a skirmish, i.e. Company level or larger is 6mm or maybe even 10 or 15.

And imagine what a GW/FW 28mm Warlord titan would cost !?! huh? IMO any "toys" that cost even close to a monthly new car payment is just "wrong" ! LOL !!!! evil grin

alpha3six22 Jul 2018 9:41 a.m. PST

We don't need to imagine. It costs exactly £1,293.00 GBP with weapons. Unless you're referring to a 28mm Imperator

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa22 Jul 2018 10:30 a.m. PST

I usually measure in mortgage payments – and the FW Warlord is 2!

Thought I saw somewhere they made 28mm Titans. Since I only do 6mm, I normally don't pay much attention to 28mm. At price … only adds more reasons why not to do 28mm ! huh? So I'd guess a 28mm Imperator would 3 or 4 times that ? Yikes ! huh?

So it comes down to having a place to live or buy a 28mm Titan ? huh?

Maybe it's just me but @ $1,700.00 USD … that just seems really expensive ! evil grin

Lion in the Stars22 Jul 2018 3:07 p.m. PST

The Roommates are really tempted by this.

I just hope that GW re-launches Epic in general. I'd like to field most of the Dark Angels chapter.

Same here – I've refused to buy Knights and other Super heavy vehicles. In the meantime my Horus Heresy infantry collection keeps getting bigger and bigger.

I generally "hate" the Epic Knights ! huh? The first ones were mostly "crap" ! And the TL versions looked like someone in Power Armor … evil grin

But the ones that came in the TL box, I converted to Chaos. As they looked "goofy" enough to fit in with the Chaos Engines … link … like something out of a Tim Burton movie ! evil grin

Dark Angels you say Lion … scroll thru … evil grin link

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa23 Jul 2018 11:37 a.m. PST

The Epic knights largely arrived at a time when Epic miniature design and sculpting quite often left something to be desired! Though some of the designs in the initial release were really interesting. I quite like the new designs and want the ones in up-coming AT re-release for my 15mm feudal-tech army project so I can ditch the ZOD mechs I've got the moment. Personally I'm slightly mystified as to their inclusion in the new AT – at least in the original titan-scale weapons had could readily reduce them to a sooty mark in a single shot…

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP23 Jul 2018 3:51 p.m. PST

Yep ! I agree with much of that …

The First Wave of Knights came out in the waning days of SM1. They pretty much mostly sucked. But I know some guys like/d them ! huh?

With Eldar being the best of the lot and even the Ork Stompas were "reasonable" per se. However, it took until Epic: A, the 4th version of Epic that they figure out Ork Gargants & Stompas should have tracks instead of wheels ?!?!? DOH ! huh?

The SM2/TL Knights all I thought looked too much like someone in Power Armor as I said. Not like the more "machine-like" BT Mechs, etc. But I'm still not much of a fan of anything with legs vs. tracks or wheels … call me old school … old fart

Why are they included in AT8mm …? Knights are cheaper for the gamers to buy. Than just making all of the much larger Titans … e.g. again a Warlord = @ $1,700 USDhuh?

But I could be wrong. After getting involved with GW since -'90. Much they did then and do now mystify me as well. And from what I can tell I'm not the only one … evil grin

Centurio Prime25 Jul 2018 9:27 a.m. PST

Looks amazing, my entire group is buying into it!

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP26 Jul 2018 6:43 a.m. PST

At those prices, it should be a group purchase ! huh? A Big Group !!! wink

MongooseMatt27 Jul 2018 1:43 a.m. PST

Looks like we will be getting into this in a big way – I can sense a slew of battle reports coming :)

Centurio Prime27 Jul 2018 4:04 a.m. PST

Let me clarify… EACH person in my group is buying this!

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP27 Jul 2018 8:04 a.m. PST

Wow ! huh? But I've got @ 25+ original Titans of all types from all races. But they are 1/500 not 8mm … huh? E.g.

picture

MongooseMatt27 Jul 2018 8:36 a.m. PST

I think you will find they still work :)

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP27 Jul 2018 2:16 p.m. PST

Yeah, pretty sure that is true … evil grin Been doing Epic since '90 plus 6mm Sci-fi since '91. So I got all kinds of stuff ! wink

Lion in the Stars27 Jul 2018 6:09 p.m. PST

I'm OK with 1/350ish scale. lets you use naval model superdetail kits.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP28 Jul 2018 8:05 a.m. PST

Yeah … so what exactly is 8mm ?

If 6mm is @ 1/300 or @ 1/285 ?

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP28 Jul 2018 8:07 a.m. PST

Bug … frown

Nice, I cant wait!

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP03 Aug 2018 5:40 a.m. PST

8mm = 1/225 … Vs. original Titans in 1/500 and original Epic in 6mm aka 1/300 or 1/285 … I suck at math ! evil grin

And updated intel on AT8mm > link I really like the OJB sprue and buildings. I have enough Titans in 1/500. Come to think about I have enough OBJs & buildings too … frown

Looks a lot like the original AT/CT waaaay back in '90 ! huh?

old fart OLD SCHOOL !!!!

15mm and 28mm Fanatik03 Aug 2018 2:09 p.m. PST

What? No spires on the upper ramparts? How's this for "old school"?

Spires ? WE Don't need no stink'n Spires !!!

My I-Titan Mk.L4 …

picture

And 28mm that is SM2/Titan Legions box set Not the original Adeptus Titanicus/Codex Titancus/SM1 … Now that's old school !!!! evil grin

IMO SM2/TL of the 4 versions of Epic[now pending 5] … SM2/TL was the WORST in rules and many of the models "Sucked" !!!! evil grin

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa05 Aug 2018 5:59 a.m. PST

I actually first played Epic (SM2) at Games Day in 91. After having clawed my way through a qualifying round with SM rules and lists I got handed a copy of the new rules and some cards a little while before Games Day and told to crack on… I never thought of them as that bad – though I preferred to original AT rules. But my some the models were bad.

BTW does anyone know when the new game actually drops and if there is an official price out yet?

Oh I'm sorry to hear that ! wink

But, I have yet to see a definitive release date yet ? So …

MongooseMatt06 Aug 2018 2:43 a.m. PST

£175.00 GBP for the big box set. £35.00 GBP for the smaller rules set.

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa06 Aug 2018 10:12 a.m. PST

£175.00 GBP! That's going to be an interesting discussion with the wife…

@Legion. I had a bunch of detachment cards, one of the mechanisms I actually like from that set, for which models had not yet been released. So I had to improvise including a Rhino aid station conversion for the SM medic which got an approving comment from one of the main GW designers!

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP06 Aug 2018 2:54 p.m. PST

I liked the SM1 organization system and still use it today.

Based on SM2 I made Medic, Tech, Chaplin, Librarian & Inquisitor for all my SM Rgts …

Centurio Prime07 Aug 2018 4:23 a.m. PST

The titan in Titan Legions was an Imperator Titan, not a Warlord. If they ever release another Imperator, they may give it spires and ramparts.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP07 Aug 2018 8:10 a.m. PST

Yes, I know plus 10 Knights as in the pic 28mm posted already above … SM2 had a Warlord …

Updated intel about AT8mm … this may or may not be 100% ? But …

US Prices:

$290 USD for the Grand Master box
$60 USD for the basic rules box
$110 USD for a warlord
$35 USD for 3 knights
$40 USD for the smaller terrain box
$125 USD for the larger terrain box

Darkest Star Games Sponsoring Member of TMP07 Aug 2018 2:31 p.m. PST

$110 USD for a single Warlord titan? You'll probably need 3 so…. Big old bag of NOPE.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP07 Aug 2018 3:29 p.m. PST

I think in the Grand Master box you get 2 Warlords and a bunch of Knights + terrain, etc. for $290. USD Like in the pic Pictor Studios post above …
