Was just reading an article, "The Aztecs of Ancient China" in Wargames Illus. (Sept. 2002), suggesting that Amazon Minis had some Shang-era Chinese. So, since it seems Amazon is OOB (from the Consumer Affairs pages), are there other vendors selling Shang-era Chinese?

Am also interested in what to use for the "semi-mythical" predecessor Xia Chinese??

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hmm, WDW is listing their "Chinese" as only "Chou" and "Qin" era, so if they _had_ "Shang" era figures, they are not listing them.

Maybe they "reclassified" the originals to more appropriate eras to their dress and weapons???

The 1st Corps figures, on the other hand, do seem to at least comport with the illustrations in the relevant Osprey volume…

No one knows of any figures for the earlier Xia Dynasty? Just askin'! Cheers!

The Amazon-WDW figures are based primarily on the "Chou" figures from the old John Greer WRG book. How far they are accurate depictions of anything is open to question, but they were originally _meant_ to be Chou.

1st Corps seem to be your only choice…

Yes, seems I am going to have to place an order w/ 1st Corps. Meantime, will keep trying to figure out what the Xia would wear (how armored, etc.)!! grin

Still wondering about figures to use for the Xia predecessors of the Shang… Have now got some 1st Corps Shang troops (need paint!). Done some more reading and encountered the "Shu," contemporary to the Shang, which "kingdom" may (or may not) have been the "Sanxingdui" culture discovered in Sichuan in 1986. Any ideas about figures to use for the Shu kingdom?? Presumably not the Shang figs by 1st Corps as they were surely "culturally" different??
