Thinking about the re-release of games, the rewriting or rules for older systems and the complete restructuring of games that have been in the news lately ( Dystopian Wars, Battletech, Age of Sigmar, WH40K editions, and so on ) I'm interested in asking the membership what is the more attractive option to them for their hard-won cash- - Brand new rules for older systems and miniatures? - Brand new minis for an older rule set that is unchanged? - Modified older rules for existing minis? - Complete change of rules and minis in the same setting? - Totally new rules sets and minis? |

Modified older rules for existing minis would be the closest choice for me. I would prefer rules to be updated for clarity and ease of play (where necessary) and miniatures that are updated but still compatible with the older minis. |

I like games that don't try to tell me what miniatures to use. I approve of updating older rules for clarity and playability. |

Obviously this has little to do with historical games. Just give me MORE minis. Not replacement minis. My rules are set. Have been for years. |

Modified rules but only if they do not require rebasing (trays are fine). If they render my old figs obsolete I won't touch it. Scale creep in particular is something I do not want to see. The new trend to 32mm will not see me buying those figs , I don't care how good the sculpt might be. Literalist rules requiring a specific figure to be valid get a raspberry but no money from me. |

The answer depends on whether you are running your operation as a business or a side hobby. The truth of the matter is that as a business you need people spending money if you want to survive. In an ideal world, people want to keep using the same rules and same minis, or new rules with the old minis. If you make rules, that's not a problem. If you make minis, and aren't running a side hobby, that's Not a sustainable business plan. If you operate as a side business and just want to make a few bucks, be as player friendly as possible since it won't matter. |
