Greetings TMPers, The Little Wars TV team is excited to announce that our first full episode is now available for viewing on our YouTube channel. This episode covers the American Civil War battle of Antietam, and follows what will be our typical format for the series: each episode runs 20-25 minutes and starts with your two co-hosts (different each week) spending roughly a third of that time discussing the historical background of battle, followed by a "refight" of the engagement on the tabletop with additional players. In between each full episode, we'll be releasing rules reviews, terrain tips, blooper reels and other bonus videos to tide you over. We couldn't find anything quite like it on YouTube back when we started this little adventure (and still can't) so we really hope you enjoy this approach to our great hobby!

I enjoyed the video very much except I would not call that a "massive" Antietam wargame. It was a very small game. The last time I played Antietam it was on a 14 X 6 game surface with thousands of 15mm figures. Now that was massive. Yours not so much. You only get massive in Regimental unit scale. There is no controversy on the McClellan reaction to Special Order 191. His reaction was to sit around for a day. Jackson was surprise by Macs reaction because it was fast, for Mac but not for anyone else. What was more disconcerting to Lee is that he seemed to know exactly where the ANV was moving. If McClellan had never found that map the war could have been over, with a Confederate victory or at least foreign recognition. At the climax of the battle with Lee's center destroyed, McClellan almost committed the 5th Corps to destroy the ANV. It was quite a moment for McClellan. He almost does the right thing and then Porter's and McClellan's eyes lock and you can just hear "the last reserve of the last Army of the Republic" and the moment passes. The ANV would not only survive but will be there the next day ready to give battle. Just a bunch of McClellan revisionist, rehabilitators and supporters. Why do they persist? Enjoy your videos and look forward to them. Keep up the good work. This is a lot of work for not much reward so thank you guys very much. |
