I'm pretty pleased with myself, I have finished my Thin Red Line from Warlord Games

picture
they are cracking figures despite being easy build. They have painted up a treat, I'm no expert so I may of made a few errors but all the same I'm still pretty pleased with them.

I've updated my blog so feel free to drop on over and check it out.

so thanks for looking
Cheers for now Russ

Warlord figures do not appear here half as often as Perry or Victrix.

These are great. Really well painted. Nice to see colours and companies correctly orientated. Love the pioneer and the NCO with the sash and the pike!

Be sure to follow the link. Photos there are even better.

You do faces really well and can even do eyes in 28mm, without the homicidal maniac look. I long gave up even trying

I agree with deadhead, very well painted! Great colors and faces. You should be pleased with yourself!

Cooldude11 Jul 2018 2:27 p.m. PST

Great stuff! Looking forward to doing my own brutish napoleonics later this year.

Jabba Miles12 Jul 2018 3:32 a.m. PST

Very good looking battalion there, well done.

rob polymathsw12 Jul 2018 6:49 a.m. PST

Really nice characters, they have a great story to them :D

Superb, outstanding details!

archiduque13 Jul 2018 7:09 a.m. PST

Very nice work!

Looking good mate, though I thought you'd have done the 10th. Where are the flags from?

Thanks guys, sorry I've taken a while to reply!

deadhead thank you for the kind words. It took a while to get the hang of painting faces but I think I'm nearly there now. I'm no expert with Napoleonics so I'm surprised there aren't any major mistakes. Has you say you don't see Warlord Games Napoleonics very often but I'm sure there will be more.

wrgmr1 thank you also, I must admit these did turn out better than I expected. I'm working on some French next just to give me a break! I do intend adding more Brits.

Thanks cooldude, hope you enjoy painting yours as much as I did mine.

Jabba Miles thank you also for the kind words.

Thanks Rob polymathsw, I'm pretty sold on the Warlord Games figures they do paint up nicely.

Thanks Phil, they turned out pretty well considering i painted them 😊

Thanks archiduque it's very much appreciated and your words are warmly received.

Thanks foxweasel, I'm no expert so I'm taking it that the flags are correct. They came in the box with the figures, I did have a slight issue with the flags but I think it was of my own making!

So thanks again guys for all the feedback and the comments, it good to hear!

Thanks again
Cheers for now Russ

I'm sure the flags are correct Russ and they look great. The only reason I mentioned the 10th is because they're the Lincolnshire Regiment.

Don't worry foxweasel I intend to add some Lincolnshire boys once I find some flags! I've got to add some local boys 👍

You get three kinds of responses….

I value all three.

Folk will say "far out", "outa sight", "totally cool man", without realising they add no content and that they are using phrases that my sons ( twins aged 23 and a 36 year old) would regard as cringe worthy. That means no added content. But I will say again….look at the highlights on the pioneer's hands.

Not bad….actually not at all bad…

Then, secondly, what is so good. I have done that…and that I value. I will say again, I cannot do eyes as you do. Your faces are something I have saved. I will again say the pioneer's hands!

Then, thirdly, where you went wrong. By definition this can be so badly received. I have nothing here…of any significance!

I could argue that the colours were always in the front rank, the drummers and pioneers in a third rank, well behind behind the second line.

If you are remotely upset by this info you need to get out more.

Your unit is superb and folk would kill for it. There are minor mistakes in a unit meant to represent several hundred men in a formation…as we all do.

Thanks deadhead, your words have not upset me or caused offence. All comments and feedback are welcome, I'm still learning when it comes to painting and even more so on painting Napoleonic uniforms. I will openly admit I have and will make more mistakes, life is learning from the day we are born till the day we die.

So thank you for all the feedback, it's warmly welcomed and even more so if I learn from it.

Thanks again
Cheers for now Russ

thank God for someone who responds like that…..

Much respect for your work (and your photography BTW)

Painting I could not add anything! Seriously…

if Archidique gives you his Imprimatur…..

That is much respect!
