I wasn't sure where to put this. I tried the player finder but came up empty. I am looking for historical players in my area. I am near State College; there has to be one or two people in this area that are interested in WWII, ACW . . . . . . . I found a group of great people in Ligonier but would love to find some people closer for weekly/biweekly playing. I'm willing to try other historical periods also. Respond here or drop me a message at ghostdivision7th@gmail.com See ya, Skip |

FYI, Skip's location from his page is "Centre, PA" so presumably State College of Pennsylvania is meant and not, say State College of Florida. Always over-explain a little when writing for strangers, Skip. Your assumptions may not be theirs. |

Players of FIW and AWI would imagine Ligonier to be up North somewhere.😋 |

its not State College of Pennsylvania. It's State College, Pennsylvania. Home of Penn State. It's the name of the town. |

Robert: Thanks for the correction and the input on posting. I haven't posted a lot here. Still looking for some players in the immediate area. See ya, Skip |

Still looking for some players in my immediate area (see above for details). Found a great group about 2 hours away but hoping to find some locals for a weekly or biweekly get together. Have FoW, BA and starting ACW with Black Powder rules. Open to other historical games. Tried 40k and AoS but just didn't enjoy them. Thanks, Skip |

If you dont mind the drive to Pittsburgh (I've driven that way and back a bunch and it's not bad) the local Pittsburgh group GASP regularly has 10-15 people playing miniatures. We meet monthly on a Saturday and play all day. |

In addition to the Pittsburgh Band of Gamers, you have 2000+ historical players (including members of the PBoG) descending on Lancaster, PA three times a year for HMGS conventions. In 2019, two conventions will be in Lancaster and one in Valley Forge. You should be able to meet some players from your area there. Another alternative is to see if Penn State has a gaming club on campus, if you want to game with college students. Most colleges have some sort of board or RPG gaming club. You could offer to host games there. Finally, if there is a local high school that wants to get into historical gaming, HMGS will supply "seed money" to get the club started. Details can be found at the HMGS web page. Good luck. |

Ronin: I have been to Fall In and Cold Wars many times, it's about a 2.5 hour drive. I was hoping to find something more local to attend on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. I have tried to navigate the HMGS website but I never seem to have much luck on there. I think I am still a member from the last convention but it only lets me navigate as a guest. I have been trying to work with local game stores and Warlord games to start up a demo game program but there is little interest by the stores. They make their money on card games and fantasy games so they really don't want to be bothered ordering from Warlord direct instead of from their normal distributors. I work at PSU and have looked for years for an on Campus club. There was one listed on the web but none of the links work. I have sent messages to the History Department but no response (yes I am that desperate for local games). I did attend an event in Latrobe a few weeks ago. It was fun and a great group of people. The only problem is it's only once a month and it will be a miserable trip during winter. I can't figure out how to contact you via PM on this site. I would like to find out more about HMGS and what it offers. Thanks for all of the responses! Skip |

Hi Skip, Sounds like you've done everything reasonably possible to find gamers in your area. A couple of other comments: you might try to track down those players who recently put on the Bushy Run game. (See the related topic for details.) Pictors Studio might be interested in working with you in the future. I also see that Steve from Little Wars TV is listed as being based in PA. FYI, the Pittsburgh Band of Gamers will be hosting games in the Marrieta Room at Fall In. You might want to stop by and join them. Speaking of Fall In, you still have time (until Friday) to submit a game for the PEL and get a free GM badge. Good luck. |

I'm staying with my son for the first time this year at Fall In. Usually we just go on Friday and head home in the evening. I am looking forward to getting in some games, trying to meet some local people and get him in a Hobby University painting class if possible. I would love to try a game down there but I think this year is going to be a huge learning experience. Maybe next year we will give it a try. Should have our huge ACW armies finished by then. Thank you for the information and ideas! Skip |

Thought I would see if there are any new faces in the Central PA area on here. State College is where I am located. Hung flyers at Fall In but never heard from anyone. Looking for almost any game/genre at this point. Have thousands of points of WW2 in 15 and 28mm and two armies in 28mm ACW. Skip |

Like I said in the related post, Cold Wars is this weekend in Lancaster. Hope to see you there. |
