Does anyone else use Friekorps 15mm for their SYW armies? If so, what happened? They used to have extreme detail and have well defined features, albeit a little chunky? I have been out of the game, so to speak, for several years and upon my retirement started back building my SYW collection. It seems that they did a redesign and made some of their figures smaller I suppose to get closer to a "true" 15 as opposed to their figures which were closer to 18s. The quality of the castings seems to have suffered. I also recently received a quantity of Prussian cavalry from QRF via Scale Creep here in the US and it looks like they used the bags of figures for a game of "Corn Hole" before shipping. Any comments?

Mark from Scale Creep here.

Happy to take the figures back and issue a refund or otherwise make things right. Please drop me a line at mark@scalecreep.com

I have lots of Freikorps figures in my collection but haven't bought any in ages. Got caught in the lure of Old Glory bags and Army Cards.

Mark, as I said in my earlier e-mail I am sorry about my earlier "venting". No excuses here, it was juvenile and totally uncalled for. You have been nothing but courteous and helpful in all our earlier dealings.

I made the discourteous comments here and here is where I should also post my apology.

A large part of my 15s are Freikorps, but are at least 30 years old. Filled out my armies in that scale with OG. Never really was found of F-k cav. The old figures use to be very brittle. At one game a stand of figures accidentally was dropped and shattered as if made of glass.

The old Irish(ULSTER!) made figs were made of recycled lead from printing co. Yes like in 19 th century…
Then became normal later, and certainly are now with QRF. The thing with Freikorps 18th cty range… You got everything or nearly so, but in an old fashion way, one pose etc.

Jcfrog I used to order a lot of Friekorps, and the one thing I found with the old one was that they would usually include a few "walking wounded" with the pack which was kinda cool, one or two guys missing headgear with bandages around their heads. I started getting back into Friekorps recently they, regrettably, no longer offer "walking wounded" but they do offer some diversity of poses with the cavalry, especially the hussars. I have also noted, after some considered study and examination, that the cavalry, and most of the infantry has been somewhat better proportioned than the earlier units I have but with a little less detail such as buttons and lace. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be nor are my hands as steady. Getting old ain't for sissies, but it sure as hell beats the alternative.
Good luck to all.
