Historicon is a few days away. I want to know if I have to prepare alternate means of cooling for the sweatbox rooms.

Dn Jackson07 Jul 2018 3:18 p.m. PST

It depends. In the 70s it was global cooling, in the 90s global warming, now its just climate change.

Oh, you meant something else… :)

At Cold Wars my room was not totally redone, but the bathroom and the heating/cooling were. The new heating and cooling unit was in the outside wall below the window like most hotel units are.

Of course I had no occasion to use the air conditioning at Cold Wars, but as it is a brand new unit, I would assume it would work. The heat was fine.

If you don't believe in air conditioning, you can insist that the rooms are not overly hot and ignore any evidence that you are overheated. Just wear a parka, refuse water, and yell loudly that it isn't warm. After a short period you won't feel anything.

That's about as good as it gets in Pennsylvania in July!

jtkimmel09 Jul 2018 1:14 p.m. PST

That's not so bad considering how was in PA a week ago (close to 100 daytime, upper 70s at night).

you forgot to record the dew points! THAT is the question.

Double G09 Jul 2018 3:13 p.m. PST

"THAT is the question."

The answer is Gold Bond.

Go for the menthol version.

Trust me, it's Gold Bond.

TSD10109 Jul 2018 3:40 p.m. PST

The answer is Gold Bond.

Solid advice right there.

capncarp10 Jul 2018 10:47 a.m. PST

"No, I expect you to _sweat_, Mr. Bond."
I dunno about you folks, but I'm bringing a fan or two.

Doesn't it get awkward carrying it around in the flea market?

capncarp10 Jul 2018 2:19 p.m. PST

No, my body servants can keep up with the fanning for hours on end.
