I read a favourable review in WS&S magazine recently but I haven't seen that much about these rules on the internet. I'm keen to hear from anyone who has played them. Do they capture the essence of pike and shot warfare? Troop types, formations, tactics? Are they easy to pick up? Any reviews out there, positive or negative?

Well just ordered them yesterday, so will have to let you know what I think if them once I get a chance to play them

I have managed to play using these rules and liked them. My thoughts can be found on my blog

We recently used them for an ECW game, and quite liked them. In fact, I liked them a bit better than the Ancients set, perhaps because I've got a "go to" set of ancient rules that I'm very happy with, whereas I'm still open for renaissance warfare.

I'd happily play them again!

We helped play test these rules and enjoyed them. link

To my mind they evoke what I believe ECW warfare would be when distilled down to toy soldiers. Like "To the Strongest!" (the earlier ancients/medieval rules upon which they were based) they use a square grid for movement and combat and a card deck (ace through 10) for activations, firing, and combat.

Could either For King and Parliament or To the Strongest be used for Samurai in the 1500-1615 period?

There are Samurai lists for To Strongest but early.
The system would easily work
