… US Navy's Aegis system.

"China has launched a pair of new destroyers on July 3 from their dry docks in Dalian, Liaoning province, which borders North Korea, according to Chinese media.

The vessels are designed for long-range air defense, anti-surface warfare and anti-submarine warfare.

The completed construction of the two destroyers, widely known as Type 055 vessels, contributes to the People's Liberation Army Navy's determined naval buildup.

The recently launched vessels are equipped with multifunction phased array radars similar to the U.S. Navy's Aegis system and could accompany future carrier battle groups as China continues to expand its carrier program…."

Hopefully Chairman Xi is more concerned about launching as many vessels as possible, than he is about their quality control.

Y'all know that Aegis is older than I am, right?

The first sea-going prototype was the USS Norton Sound, who got the installation in 1973. The Ticonderoga was commissioned in 1983. Heck, the Arleigh Burke was commissioned in 1991.

We're talking about a technology that is 50 years old now. I'm surprised that more countries don't have it!

Of course – the concept of Aegis is about 50 years old but, the current systems are based on newer components.

It's not like the idea of a centralized command and control for weapons and defense systems is a completely alien concept…

Maybe they'll have lots of these oopsie-sodes when they get down to the South China Sea to intimidate their neighbors, or when Xi tries to "recapture" Taiwan for the People's Republic Of China.

It is the software that I am sure they've stolen that runs the radar that is more disconcerting….

Who needs high tech when you have a nation of supersoldiers like this? :)

Is that even possible? :)
