Tango- how do you have the time to add so much content to this site? TMP should stand for: "Tango's Miniatures Page."

Made me laugh. Years ago, I used to write for a gaming magazine called The Space Gamer. I was so prolific with articles, I was later told that the office joke was that they should rename the magazine, Armintrout Gamer! evil grin

Andy ONeill06 Jul 2018 12:34 a.m. PST

Well done Armand.

You do seem to have been beat by "this is ridiculous" and "none of these/no opinion" though.

4th Cuirassier06 Jul 2018 1:17 a.m. PST

Glad you like them boys! (smile)

Fred Cartwright06 Jul 2018 1:26 a.m. PST

Well done Armand!

Good job, Armand!

TMP would be completely dead if not for Armand… :)

Wow ! Didn't know I was even in the running ! Congrads to Tango and my co-winner Mark 1. I really don't think I deserve it but thanks to all !

"You do seem to have been beat by "this is ridiculous" and "none of these/no opinion" though.
Yeah … but every one was beaten by those two categories … huh? LOL ! evil grin

Who'd you vote for 23rdFusilier ? wink

Tommy2006 Jul 2018 12:39 p.m. PST

From the discussion in the original thread, and the number of votes for "other", it's pretty clear that R Mark Davies received the most votes.

Mark 1 Supporting Member of TMP06 Jul 2018 3:19 p.m. PST

I'm not so sure about that, Tommy20.

I think putting my name up there next to Armand or L4 largely fits into the "this is ridiculous" category. I would be half tempted to claim some of those votes too, if I weren't so sure that would cause a shift from "this is ridiculous" to "this is $#@&*-up".

Hey, I get this was not a "scientific survey" and I'm taking it in a light hearted manner. And frankly I think there are a number of gents here[or who were here], e.g. Mark 1, R Mark Davies, respectively, etc. are much more "knowledgeable" than I. On this subject and others.

Tango frequently posts some very interesting links about this topic and many others that start some good conversations. Which in turn, we all may learn some new information or help us remember that which we forgot, etc.

If any post was meant a e.g. a personal attack, etc., and I don't think any were. Again this IMO was a very much less that "serious" pole. And should be taken as such. As I have heard, "I you are the smartest guy in the room … you are in the wrong room." huh? So I would have to leave very few of those "rooms" …

In this case being "dubbed" one of the most helpful on WWII topics on TMP is like being crowned the King of the North Pole ! snowflake LOL ! evil grin

VonBlucher07 Jul 2018 7:18 a.m. PST

I miss R Mark Davies here as I have enjoyed his write ups on General de Brigade forum and in magazines. I still see him on the GdB forum but miss his insights on the WW2 forum here.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP07 Jul 2018 7:29 a.m. PST

He was very knowledgeable …

deephorse07 Jul 2018 12:02 p.m. PST

He still is very knowledgeable, just not allowed to share it with us here.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian07 Jul 2018 3:55 p.m. PST

If he wants to come back, it is not difficult to do so.

Achtung Minen08 Jul 2018 6:57 a.m. PST

I feel like this poll was thrown off by the millions of illegal and deceased voters. I am pretty sure that I actually won.

(Leftee)08 Jul 2018 1:57 p.m. PST

Links to things is not being particularly helpful. Sharing a wide knowlege base and answering questions is. Just saying.

Tango01 Supporting Member of TMP08 Jul 2018 2:39 p.m. PST

Of course … it is much more helpful to demystify, criticize or openly dismiss what another offers … especially on the part of someone whose last thread comes from 2008 … and who suspiciously appears only for this type of "contribution" … bravo! … that is helpful here …(smile)

Much sooner, but who, except possibly you, is counting? I pretty much choose not to post things found through google searches.
Was a member since the rules directory, so was around since on or before 1999 when Easy Eight's Battleground WW2 came out. But whatever. Free forum, post what you wish, and my (and only my) opinion is that I don't find what you post helpful and I choose choose to ignore it.
So passively-aggressively insult away. Volume of posts does not equate to being helpful- in my opinion – which seems necessary to repeat here. Others think differently.

Andy ONeill09 Jul 2018 9:18 a.m. PST

I don't know why people voted for whoever and it seems a bit of a pointless sort of a poll.
But shrug….

I guess some people consider it useful and therefore helpful that Armand spends time finding stuff he considers interesting and posts links.
Maybe they consider providing links as entertainment and they want to be entertained so links are therefore helpful.
If one visits a website every day to be entertained then… seems to me Armand is indeed helpful.

Tango01 Supporting Member of TMP09 Jul 2018 11:36 a.m. PST

Your opinión is valid as mine… keep with your path… and I will follow mine…

The difference is that I do not wrote personal opinions about people who contribute little or nothing to the forum … especially in a negative way … even more if it's the only thing I've contributed for years …

Being in TMP since its inception provides the same distinction as posting 30 times every day … nada! … it does not mean anything at all ….

They are only ways of being here….

Andy … as I said, I really don't think this was "Serious" scientific, etc., poll. As I said it's like being elected the King of the North Pole ! evil grin

kevanG10 Jul 2018 10:39 a.m. PST

"TMP would be completely dead if not for Armand… :)"

whats the most dead?…a radio flooded with static or a radio switched off?

and What does static do to a conversation you are trying to pay attention to on the radio?

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP10 Jul 2018 2:18 p.m. PST

Well one can always just change the channel or turn off the radio … huh?

kevanG11 Jul 2018 12:54 a.m. PST

that station is off..

Andy ONeill11 Jul 2018 1:19 a.m. PST

I don't follow the criticism.
It's not just one channel.

The name of the poster is right there on the thread header.
You can click or not click.
If you find Armand's stuff interesting ( I often do ) then click.
If you don't then don't click.

You're not forced to download everything and then pick through it.
Even if you are a mobile user and pay per byte then the front page will be just as big with or without Armand's posts.
There just aren't enough to push everything off the page every day.

Even if your criticism is really about the perceived intellectual content of threads….. Some really high quality posts are in threads that Armand started.

I don't follow what the downside you're seeing is.

kevanG11 Jul 2018 4:42 a.m. PST

Are you suggesting he should put his name in every thread he starts?

That would be most helpful.

Andy ONeill11 Jul 2018 4:46 a.m. PST

I was just about the correct that… As i posted, i was thinking you can see the poster on the front page.
Shrug.

Still not seeing the problem.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP11 Jul 2018 6:52 a.m. PST

Legion 4: +1

Mobius11 Jul 2018 8:15 a.m. PST

I'd have to say it was a landslide win for no opinion but a good showing to 'this is ridiculous'. Though Tango finishes out the trifecta.
