I've recently considered buying a number of Darklands minis, hoping they're as well executed as they look, and checked out a couple of games on YouTube.

While the apparent complexity of the game (comparatively speaking; Dragon Rampant and Frostgrave are a bit shallow in the gaming department for me) doesn't bother me, all of the reports I've seen end up in the classic "dogpile in the middle of the table" formation.

If you've played the game, I'd like to hear if your gaming experiences with these rules match my impression, or if one can employ a greater range of tactics than just plowing into the enemy's line.

Thought you were going to be talking about the excellent computer game from the late 90's…

But, I have noticed the same ending pile up as you when looking at this game and wondered if that is the result of the rules, or of the players?

I thought you were talking about the amazing computer game from the early 1990's!
