After that rollercoaster ride and actually winning a penalty shoot out is wargaming taking a backburner ?
Sat gaming is off as it's time to bash those Swedes.
No painting , beers in , lucky y fronts ,
ENGLAND EXPECTS.

Glengarry503 Jul 2018 11:24 p.m. PST

I'm torn. I'm Canadian, my dad was English but my mum is Swedish-American… who to root for?!?

Redcurrant04 Jul 2018 12:04 a.m. PST

I am a Scot, so I have a game arranged for Saturday.

Darrell B D Day04 Jul 2018 2:33 a.m. PST

I'm a Scot but not a bitter one😊

Just don't get over-excited, England. Getting this far with an unfancied team and without the usual over-hyped press coverage is a success in itself. Don't look beyond the next game.

On, on, you noble English!

JimDuncanUK04 Jul 2018 4:16 a.m. PST

Wasn't there a report in the press recently that established that the earliest football rules and regulations were published in Scotland.

Hi Jim Duncan ,
I read that report it was commissioned by we crankie Willie Sturgeon on behalf of the SNP .
Part of operation iron bru.
Football is certainly a British invented sport.

20th Maine
Certainly there have been ancient cultures that have played some form ball game but this has no relevance or influence on what football is today a 19c invention.

Straw Plaiter04 Jul 2018 6:45 a.m. PST

Actually Dynaman8789 Soccer is an English expression from the 1870's. At the time there was Association Football and Rugby Football. Players shortened them to Soccer and Rugger.

JimDuncanUK – Oldest known Soccer rules date from 1824 and were found in Edinburgh.
Oldest club still playing a form of soccer very close to today's game is Sheffield FC who were formed in 1857.
Scots – we'll find a way to cock it up so be patient.

Nothing at all against the Swedes, who are good folks, but I do hope England manages this one. As others have said, the fact that they got this far is already a tremendous achievement.

The rules for Association Football were created in England. There really is no argument here. That's not to say other rules involving kicking a ball about have not existed of course. In fact we invented most good games played today.

2002 – we get through to the quarter finals, everyone loses their minds, we get battered in the next match and crash out.

2006 – we get through to the quarter finals, everyone loses their minds, we get battered in the next match and crash out.

2018 – well, let's just say I'm not holding my breath. The British Grand Prix though – that's another matter…

Terry Naylor06 Jul 2018 3:08 a.m. PST

Vindaloo , Fat Less
World in motion, New Order
and off course the classic timeless
3 Lions ,
The soundtrack to today's painting output . Are they the greatest football/sports songs ever written?

Terry Naylor06 Jul 2018 3:11 a.m. PST

My old mate Archie McSporran ( collects Jacobite 28mm) prefers
" All'ys Army " arguing it's a far better recording.
Don't quite see it myself but everyone to their own.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does 'Football is coming home' actually mean? – was it ever away?

It just sounds like gibberish to me!

EricThe Shed07 Jul 2018 5:29 a.m. PST

its the lyrics from the 1996 Three Lions song…

Cheers Eric, that's what I thought!- meaningless!!!!

Howler07 Jul 2018 9:45 p.m. PST

I am leaning towards Croatia. It's a fun sport to watch, especially when it gets to the kick offs (What happens after regulation and overtime play). Very tense and I couldn't imagine what was going through the players mind when it comes time to kick.

Terry Naylor08 Jul 2018 1:35 a.m. PST

Blimey that's another week coming up of no gaming as we have the semi final on Wednesday.
I had a primed unit of Nap line but pollocks to it .
The nation is going bonkers so enjoy the ride .

Mr Herkybird .
"Football is coming home, " is about emotions. It's the pain we have endured for generations and hope of a second coming .It was never meant to be grammatically correct. It's from the heart .
To bring the World Cup/Euro back to England the birthplace of the global game.

Gennorm08 Jul 2018 7:15 a.m. PST

Well put Terry Naylor.
