"Preferred choice of 28 mm Building for ETO?" Topic

So do you like Miniature Building Authority, Crescent Root, Salley 4th, other? Why do you like/not like certain manufactures? Do you scratch build your own? Thanks for the responses.

I use Dave Graffam papercraft models. Easy to make and they look pretty darn good, plus I can afford lots of them. I really like Crescent Roots stuff but they are outside of my budget.

I have several different makes, and like each of them for different reasons.

Best combination of price + detail in kit form = Things From The Basement. Much more detail than Sarissa at a little higher price. They don't have a range specifically labelled for ETO, but many of their kits will fit in fine. Check the Inspired By Sleepy Hollow and Legend of Riverfield ranges. (And for Eastern Front, absolutely check out their budget Russian Village, and their budget-busting Master Builder Series for Stalingrad!!!)

Best detail for an economy kit = Blotz. It's a limited range though, just picked up some of their barracks kits and am very happy with how well crafted these are. Better than Sarissa, but alas for WW2, only if you're looking for barracks. (They have other ranges for other periods.)

Most versatile economy range = Sarissa. Inexpensive, easy to paint and assemble, a little light on detail. For an in-depth range, this is the best bang for the quid. I have a lot of these.

Good bang for the buck = Crescent Root. Good solid buildings with a very nice paint job at a fair price. Will buy more if one of their buildings fits a particular niche I'm looking for.

Very nice, but too pricey for me = Sally 4th. If I needed a finished building and they had it, I'm sure I wouldn't ever regret owning it later.

I'm fond of Sarissa as well. The price point is excellent and the shipping is timely and cheap. They come un panted, but that's OK, I prefer to select my own color palettes.

I second Bashytubits' about Dave Graffam. Papercraft is inexpensive, quick, and looks great on the table.

Those paper buildings do look nice, but I still prefer crescent root buildings. They are well made, flat pack for storage and are not too heavy. The paper looks good from a distance, but when figures are next to them, they look flat to me.

The Miniature Building buildings are too heavy. The walls a really thick and you get less interior space for the footprint the building has on the table.

All of my ETO buildings are 4Ground. Love that they are prepainted and have detailed interiors with lift off floors and roofs as well as stairs etc.

Prepainted means I can put them together and use them as until I get around to painting them. My only complaint is the roofs are just etched tiles, but that's easily solved with above plastic sheet. I can also easily add detail like signs, drain spouts, window boxes etc.

MBA, but i bought many years ago when they were cheaper and there wasn't much competition.
