A 28mm spectacle with the charge of Rohan against the overwhelming forces of Mordor!

Here are some teaser shots of Minas Tirith in construction for the massive fanstasy Triumph battles on Friday.

The Battle of Pelennor Field (run twice on Friday)

Friday, 9AM – 1PM (1st session)
Friday 2PM – 6PM (2nd session)

Scale: 28mm, Rules: Triumph!
Players: 10
The Gate of Minas Tirith was broken; in rode the Witch King of Angmar. None could stand against him. None save Gandalf the White, who alone barred his way. The Black Rider lifted high his sword and flames ran up the blade. And at that moment, far away, sounded horns, horns wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last. Take an army of Mordor, huge beyond counting, or one of the West, fighting beyond hope with spears shining in the morning. New players are welcome, the rules are quick to learn, we do encourage you get a quick practice game in beforehand in one of the 1 hour Triumph Demos!
GM: David Kuijt and WGC Team

Please stop by and try a game with us, we will be doing one hour demo games in the mornings with the 15mm historical matchups!

Been there, done that, with Duke Siefried in 2001 or 2002.

It shall be a day of day's I'm sure!

I imagine the large company of Dwarves beavering away on that massive construction didn't come cheap either.

Lot's of photo's please.

Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

Looks great! I can't wait to see it.

Actually it is all being built by one oversized Canadian Dwarf, and he works for Cheetos!

So needless to say we got a good deal on the construction costs.

Please tell me it is the battle from the book, and not Peter Jackson's version.

WOW! ambitious project! I'm very curious how you pull it off. looks great so far. for 28mm what size is it?

good luck!

@kcabai, I am not sure what the differences are myself, but the guy running this event is a Tolkien Purist, and I am sure he consulted all the historical documents regarding the battle. I know there will be no green Orcs, unless I manage to smuggle some onto the table unnoticed.

@Stew, it is not actually involved in the battle (i.e. no figures on the walls or anything) so it is "not to scale". Basically it is a fancy backdrop. If I remember right it is about 3-4 feet wide though.

Regardless the it looks great.

More pictures of Minas Tirith nearing the construction finish stage. Yes each building is having some detail added.

my favorite part is the huge pile of foam shavings on the floor…

looks like it's coming together very nicely. A surprising amount of detail is going into it.

when you get a chance, I'd love to know what tools you are using for construction.

Stew, the gentleman building this is, for lack of a better word, fanatical?

He is doing most of it with a sharp hobby knife and he makes brass pressing tools to speed up detailing the buildings. You can see them in the corner of the last picture.

This piece is essentially eye candy for a very fun large scale miniature battle. It is much like my Kadesh model you may have seen on TMP. Scenery, very nice scenery, but no real impact on the battle. Just a way to dress up what would otherwise be a battle in a plain field.
