This is the first of six obscure battles set in the 9th/10th century. At Aclea the armies of Wessex meet the Danes south of London and proved a decisive victory over the Danes. Unfortunately this proved quite the opposite with the Danes slaughtering the Anglo-Saxons with each adjustment to either terrain or troop deployment. How this was resolved can be read at the blog. link Next week I will post the re-fight of the battle. Cheers, Robert |
