A small problem with the hotel link resulted in a much longer delay than we would have liked but the good news is registration for HURRICON-2018 is now open. The dates, once again, are 27-30 September. A few points: 1. The link is link 2. If you are new to table top please see our tutorial at PDF link 3. For hotel registration please use the link "Reserve rooms through this link!" in blue at the top of the table top page. You can also go directly there bypassing table top with the following link: bit.ly/2I7zy1k 4. When making reservations through the provided link, when you get the hotel reservation form, please hit the "search again" button once you have specified the dates you want. Then click on the type room you want. 5. You will get a warning about the $16.95 USD resort fee. Remember you will NOT be charged this fee! 6. For folks looking to join South, or renew their membership, you will find membership under the "Get Merch" tag on the table top site. The flea market payment is also under that tab. Looking forward to another fantastic convention and don't forget we have the honor of hosting the FOW Southern Nationals this time! More information shortly. |

I have bought my dealer tables and registered a game. The game is a battle fought by Lawrence's Army against the Turks. Tomorrow I book my hotel room. So far we are planning 5 Sword and the Flames games on the TSATF table in front of my vendor booth. Looking forward to seeing old friends and some new ones. |

Are you room block open for reservations? |
Marc33594 | 01 Aug 2018 5:39 a.m. PST |
Yup, the hotel link is live Rudy and hotel taking reservations. One reminder. After picking the dates you want hit the "search again" tab and it will bring up just those dates. Merely indicating the dates and hitting enter results in their website trying to make your reservation for 5 nights! |

Tons of good news coolyork. Several new vendors. Hosting the Southern Nationals for Flames of War. And a wargaming group from a Georgia middle school joining us! That's on top of the usual goodness! |

I booked my rooms directly with the hotel. No problem. Was able to get some requests recorded. Reservation staff very helpful. There will be at least 8 TSATF games, 7 on the tables in front of my booth that has become known as TSATF table. 6 have been submitted. Jeff Baumal will submit his when he returns from vacation. Sign up! |

For those of you who dont know Nick, in addition to being a vendor, GM and participating in games also jumped in to make TSATF table a resounding success. Be sure to stop by Regimental Supply booth to thank Nick and talk about TSATF. You will find he has quite a few helpful items. |

Was pondering coming to either Recon or Hurricon. Hurricon makes me worried about hurricanes and cancelled flights. What's the difference between the shows? (I guess less chance of a hurricane in April?) |
coolyork | 09 Aug 2018 3:00 p.m. PST |
I believe Hurricon is a bit bigger turnout ? |
Rudysnelson | 09 Aug 2018 5:52 p.m. PST |
Back when the show was in Tampa, two shows had to put up with hurricanes. Nothing since in Orlando and the current location. Either show would be fun. Many years ago, the Spring show was larger but I think recently the Fall show has been larger. |

It really has shifted. Many years ago RECON (last full weekend in April) was our bigger show. And then HURRICON (last full weekend in September)became our bigger show. Now both shows have about the same attendance. We had one show, when we were in Tampa, cancelled due to a hurricane. A second, also in Tampa, was impacted (no pun) when another hurricane threatened South Florida and many of our gamers had to leave early. I missed the first one and the second one was over 15 years ago. As far as any differences they really are about the same. Good friends, good games and good times. The "official" hurricane season in Florida starts 15 May and runs through 30 November. |

What's the ballpark attendance for Hurricon? |

Jim and I registered for a room today. Cant wait ! |

We can count our blessings here in the south. Mid-South puts on a super show with Nashcon and of course is part of Siege of Augusta. Here at South we do Hurricon and Recon. And plenty of other great shows outside HMGS orbit. For example Rapier put on by the Jacksonville Garrison and of course the grand daddy of southern shows, Southern Front put on by TSS. One thing which helps is we all seem to share from a pool of some outstanding GMs. |

All 7 slots at TSATF table are filled. From thursday night to Saturday night we will run 7 TSATF games. If you have never played the game but are interested you have 7 different games to choose from. We have games in darkest Africa, the Middle East, North Africa, the Sudan and China. The GM's will walk you through the rules and by turn 3 you won't need any help. |

Looks like it's going to be another great con! Nick, thanks for putting the Colonial TSATF Table together this time. It reminds me of the old Colonial Wars Rooms we had at Historicon. We've got at least one TSATF Game going every session of the con. My game is registered and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone. Coolyork, did you register your awesome Spanish American War TSATF scenario? I hope so! Cheers, JB |

Rampantlion, do try to stop by our TSATF Table and say hi. Cheers, JB link |

All 7 Sword and the Flame games are full. Two have waiting lists. Fantastic. If anyone else wants to play in one of these games talk to the games master at the con. Some times commands can be split to accomodate more players. Also some times registered players don't come to the game. My game, Battle of Tafila was designed for 6 players and there won't be any extra commands. |

Marc, I just saw a notice by Golden distribution on prize support for conventions. May be too late for Hurricon but an option for Recon. |
Marc33594 | 15 Sep 2018 5:59 a.m. PST |
Thanks for the tip Rudy. We will definitely look into that! |
