As the title asks. I am looking to build firstly an Egyptian force for the 1973 war for Fait of a Nation . Did the T55s appear in plain sand colour then as in the 1967 conflict or were they all in the cammo schemes? Some 2 tone others 3 tone? The book only covers the plain sand scheme .

Thanks guys

Doing a Google Image search for Egyptian T-55s and you can see that anything goes.

They had plain sand, sand + green stripes or blobs, sand + brown stripes or blobs, sand + green and brown stripes and or blobs.

So take your pick.

And they were all 'well used', so plenty of rough edges, warn paint and stains/mud all over them.

If you can get ahold of Wargames Illustrated 365 there was a good piece on the Yom Kippur War (featuring models from our club no less!)

Here's a blog post on the Chinese Farm battle: link

I use the various different camo schemes to differentiate the different units.

As noted above, you go with with pretty much whatever you like.

Thanks guys.

I must admit I am slightly outside my comfort zone with this theatre and era being normally a WW2 + ACW gamer.

I think I need to pick up a couple of books as well.

I don't think any of the Arab forces had a official cameo scheme. I think that was decided on the local level. As far as Egypt goes I have seen a huge variety in photos.
Here is a good resource. All of these illustrations are based on photos. Scroll to the bottom for examples of several nations paint schemes. Including Egypt.
