I wrote a lengthy thread about D&D yesterday. It got caught up by Da Bug, combined with 79th PA's first thread about an ACW surgeon's pit.
He clearly started another thread, but what happened to mine?
It appeared on the Home Page correctly titled, and in the Fantasy RPG board mistitled but present. Now it's gone.

It was a lengthy story, and I'd rather be able to have it replaced than try to generate the whole thing again from memory. Is there a TMP storage of it somewhere? Can it be restored? Or am I out of luck?

It's not recoverable. Sorry.

After losing a long and painstakingly constructed post to just such a mishap, I began the practice of highlighting and copying the text of my posts before hitting the Submit button. The text then sits safely in the Clipboard until I see that it has been posted correctly.

I'd recommend doing the same; it takes mere seconds.

Don't just save it on the clip board. Open notepad and copy the text there. Then save the text, just in case.

On a long post – write it in notepad (or whatever) and paste it from there rather than the reverse.

Better yet, get some 8-1/2 x 11 lined tablets and some carbon paper. Hand write a copy of your post before submitting then mail the duplicate to Bill for situations such as these.

Well, it's such a waste of mental energy that I already don't have, that lately I've gotten into the habit of copying my text too.

At times I've even taken screenshots, just in case someone is trying to gaslight me. I used to never be paranoid about stuff … but I've seen too many things happen online, even on websites that should be protected against tampering. :)

That's a shame, Parzival, especially as I've been greatly enjoying those posts. Very frustrating.

Is the deletion a Bug issue, an automated maintenance issue, or was it done by the editors? If the latter, might I suggest in the future that the editors copy the thread to either a replacement thread or in a message to the poster, allowing him or her to create a replacement thread. Just a thought.

As it is, I think I can remember the gist of it. Ah, well, back to the keyboard.

Parzival

I'm having questions about deletion issues too:

Yeah … a thread I started on TMP Talk disappeared too ?

Cacique Caribe23 Jun 2018 9:24 a.m. PST

LOL. There are other "historical records" (threads) that are apparently being re-written before our very eyes. :)
