…for the Far East. Looking at Command Decision for rules, so each player would run around a battalion. Are there online sources and/or scenario books for this theater?

There is.
It's depressing frown

Why depressing, dragon?

I had a moment of excitement when I read the topic sentence, but when I read your post I realised that you are only interested in the Dutch East Indies.
The reason for my excitement is that I have almost finished 50 scenarios for the campaign in Holland in 1940. These are detailed historical scenarios designed with Command Decision in mind. It's been a labour of love over the last three years involving translation of Dutch archives amongst other sources. Really looking forward to having these finished by end July. Stay tuned!

I'm starting up a 20mm Bolt Action project for Japanese and KNIL. This would be of interest to me as well.

MGK – I may be swayed to head to Europe instead! My buddy had a slew of 15mm Japanese already so was thinking about a KNIL force to go against.

Then Buckeye I would strongly recommend. Not sure how much you know about the battles in France and the Low Countries in 1940 but I find it a fascinating period as all sides are still grasping with modern tactics. There is a bewildering array of different vehicles, all reasonably easy to obtain nowadays, and weapons ranges are very short compared to mid and late war. This makes any wargame table suddenly bigger, leading to more manoeuvre.

mgk4167, I will be very interested to see your scenarios when you are ready to release them!

Buckeye,

If mgk4167 is aka "Krause" then you definitely want to check out his WWII Holland scenario pics and AARs here on TMP in the Command Decision thread and on the Command Decision forum. He has posted some awesome looking stuff. His AARs are quite good, his troops and equipment very interesting, and some of the paper buildings and ships he uses are almost indistinguishable from molded plastic they are so well done. He may very well convert you to the European Theater.

Thanks Bill – yes the k in mgk does stand for Krause; I am one and the same. Thank you your kind comments.

I'm overseas for the next two weeks (walking the Kokoda Trail for anyone interested). On my return I will publish a set of 50 scenarios dealing with the campaign in Holland to compliment the 100 I have already published featuring the French and British. For those interested in detailed historical scenarios, these should make your eyes water. A labour of love.
