Firstly looking at Vallejo as they are most easily available to me and I want to stay to acrylic. Looking at these Model Air colours based on their RAF and Luftwaffe colours

Luftwaffe

RLM 65 Light Blue – 71.255
RLM 71 Dark Green – 71.015
RLM 70 Black Green – 71.021

RAF

Dark Earth – 71.323
Dark Green – 71.324

And this is where it gets confusing, the RAF pack includes

Sky Type S – 71.302
Duck Egg Green – 71.009
Duck Egg Blue – 71.404

From the Vallejo colour charts these are three different colours but are all supposed to be the same thing – different names for the same colour.

Any idea which one is the best?

Sky Type S became the official colour for the undersides of fighters in mid 1940. Due to shortages, other similar colours appear to have been used, hence the other paints.
Don't forget that before these colours the undersides were painted black (port) and white (starboard) and some of the aircraft involved in the BoB would have been painted in this way.
