Has anyone heard what is happening with this show? The rumour is that they have cancelled the venue so it is beginning to look like it is not going to happen. If this is true then it is a tragedy as one one the stand out wargames shows of the year will be no more and all the tournament players, traders and gamers will miss out. |

I think the negative opinions of the most recent venue meant that many punters and traders were unlikely to attend if it were at the same place. |

If it is to disappear I'd suggest the competition side went to Partizan II in August instead? Maybe not this year as it's a bit late, but Partizan has a list of traders waiting to get a place at the show, and there is the Cedric Ford Pavillion almost adjacent to the George Stephenson Pavillion which could house them all with a bit of re-shuffling of some traders in the larger Pavillion. Both Pavillions work well at Hammerhead Show. Also, it could be deemed 'organic growth', which is the organisers' term, i.e. having situations crop up without them going looking for them. |

There was talk that the old venue at Donnington had changed its mind again and wanted the show back, so who knows. I doubt that Partizan would want to bring in the competition at this stage, especially as it would mean increasing to 2 days. This would mean extra venue costs, convincing the trade that 2 days was worth their while, not an easy thing no matter how many are waiting to get in. Also there is the question of how much income adding the competition actually generates for the organisers and the trade. |

You couldn't squeeze the competitions into one day then Vigilant? |

Just give the Traders the option of staying for one or two days, make Saturday the 'Trade day'. Put all the Sat only traders in one area and then tidy the empty tables away for the Sunday. The local fellas will probably stay for both days whereas the likes of us will save a small fortune in hotel/food/booze costs. L |

@ Volleyfire – not really given the format of the tournaments. Most games last 3-3.5 hours so you can only get in two games per day with a fairly short break between them. That means the tournament needs to be over two days. If Partizan did take the tournament on, that could run over two days in one hall, with the show being one day as per normal in another hall. The tournament crowd don't really have much time to visit the show part at "Derby" anyway. |

The "old" venue at Donnington is now a permanent showroom for a car auction business that now occupies the site – it's no longer operating as an event venue at all, so there is zero possibility of that particular scenario happening |

It would be good if the organisers came 'clean' and let the traders and gaming public know what is happening. |

L Or make it competitions on both days, traders on both days, but only participation games one day and only demo games the next, using the same tables for both and giving the space freed up by only using half the hall to the competition gamers instead.I'd bet more punters turned up on the participation day than the demo game day though. Find room for a tabletop sale on both days as well, that gets punters in. |

There arent enough demo or participations games to run 'special' days and whatever you do it wont increase Traders income. Im really not sure how many people turn up for demo/participation games anyhow. The point really about two day shows is that as a Trader you just spread the same level of takings over two days that you could take in a single day without the extra overnight expenses. L |

Well for Hammerhead show which was participation only games plus a tabletop sale 1500 turned up on the day. I read that 800 odd turned for Partizan which was roughly half participation half demo games, the ratio of participation to demo games having been increased. That was a bit down on normal attendance which IIRC is around 1000.It would be interesting to compare those numbers with Derby attendance at its various venues if anyone knows the figures. |

Derby has been cancelled for this year, apparently they have been trying to find a new venue and have failed to do so. They are planning to start again in 2019. They will be updating FB etc later this week. |

Having looked on FB I couldn't find anything, so has there been an update does anybody know please? |

I notice that an announcement from the Derby Worlds organisers has just appeared on the Partizan facebook page stating that because they have been unable to locat an alternative venue to the one used last year, there won't be a Derby Worlds 2018, but they hope to be back on the usual weekend in October next year. |
