My favorite is his newest game, Red Alert. Its a space game using space ship miniatures.

2 – so much that we play it on table top with miniatures.

My wife and I have been playing tricorne since we sequestered ourselves. We are really getting into so much that I have painted figures to use on the gameboard. I have three British cavalry units to finish and the basic set will be complete. I am going to take time to paint something else and then will paint the figures I need for the extended set.

I started playing the original C&C (Battle Cry) when it came out. In light of subsequent offerings, including the 150th Anniversary édition, it feels a little too simple now. I tried, but felt unsatisfied by, the Memoir ‘44 core game (dumped it for Tide of Iron…). I skipped Ancients, but would happily try it (as well as Medieval or Samurai). I've tried Napoleonics (recently on a Vassal kick), Tricorne, Great War and Red Alert, and like them all. I've even tried Abaddon. In summary, I really like the system as it has evolved and as long as the topic interests me I'll play it, confident that because if the common system I can get into it relatively quickly. The more differentiated types of troops there are, the better.

Napoleonics for me.

I would have probably left 7 off the choices, tbh.

Inspired by the Richard H. Berg best game poll, the similarly named Richard Borg best game poll. Which of his Commands & Colors style games is best?

1) Ancients
2) Napoleonics
3) Memoir ‘44
4) Battle Cry
5) Battle Lore
6) Tricorne
7) not a fan/ never played any/ no opinion/ Richard who?

I left a few off the list by mistake, so I will add them now.
8) The Great War
9) Samurai Battles
10) Medieval

I have only played Ancients, Napoleonics, and Memoir ‘44. My favorite is Napoleonics. Of the three it is the most involved. Memoir ‘44 is the simplest.

Since the time I started this poll, I have now also played Tricorne and Medieval. Both good games, but Napoleonics is still my favorite when played on the Epic size board. There is also a new addition which needs to be added to the list which I would like to try,
11). Red Alert

Red Alert is a great game. Right now my wife and I are playing Ancients. I have converted my ancients figures to fit on the board and we are using them instead of the blocks. Its a great use of the hundreds of figures I am no longer using to run miniature games. Elephants are physically more imposing than the blocks.
