What is the best book to describe drill in the SYW. Looking for the SYW version of Casey's Infantry Tactics in the ACW to better understand maneuvering in the SYW. Thanks in advance Ken |

Nosworthy, who even explains how a battalion crosses a bridge in the face of the enemy. His book on Napoleonic tactics is a useful addition because he often refers back to the SYW, much is still very relevant (especially concerning cavalry charges and musketry), and it's an easier read. There is a copy of 'Anatomy…' on abe at under £20.00 GBP (from a USA book store). If you want it snap it up, that's very cheap. Most copies seem to go for much more these days. link |
