Another little departure from my usual scale and era having come across a few sci-fi things in my collection.

I discovered on Arcane Scenery's webshop Trent miniatures AWI range which includes seperate heads. They seemed perfect, spare heads in Tarletons that fit into the GW plastic Cadians. Giving the guardsman a horse and musket era feel, then repainting them based on 19th century Prussians, with the armour painted in a silver metal inspired by Napoleonic French Cuirassiers. I did have to snip the ponytail but other than that the head fitted like a dream.

That is a cool head swap there.

Very cool!

Westwind German heads work pretty well too

ha that's cool. I do love converting unusual IG regiments. I would never have thought of that though.

That's quite nice. I shudder at the cost of all those headless AWI figures.

Or did you swap the Cadian heads onto the AWI figures and call them "Can-cadians"?

For the longest of time I've been planning to build and paint my Imperial Guard (original plastic ones) as 1808 Finnish troops.

Already did a unit of Roughriders that way and it was fun.

Thanks for the comments guys! Fourtunatley no headless horsemen after this conversion thanks to the heads being sold as an accessory:
