"On the first day of the 7-8 June NATO defence ministers meetings in Brussels, the Belgian, Danish, and Dutch ministers signed a memorandum of understanding to create a composite special operations component command (C-SOCC), NATO announced on 7 June. Scheduled to reach its initial operational capability in 2019 and its full operational capability in 2021, the command will participate in the NATO Response Force and could support alliance and other operations, according to NATO. The Dutch Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the C-SOCC would initially be commanded by Denmark and would be able to deploy up to six special operations task groups and a special air task group…." Lets them share the costs of developing the capabilities, though that's only going to last until the various countries disagree on whether to deploy the unit. |
