A reasonable argument, but I'd trade a lot of "they would have" or "they should have" for a very few lists of issued equipment, or references to pikes in the field. Soldiers, being people, just don't always do what we think they ought to and the only actual evidence of their field equipment works against them having pikes. It may not be decisive, but it is what we have. That said, I certainly wouldn't object to pike-equipped Huguenot units in a game unless some rules lawyer had found a way to make them a super-unit. You always have to watch for that. |
