My wife and I are going to visit Vancouver BC next month. Anyone care to recommend and good hobby shops?

Thanks

While there are a number of good game stores around Vancouver Imperial Hobbies is a pillar of the Vancouver wagames community and big supporter of the local Trumpeter's Tabletop Society. He has model kits, books, boardgames, RPG's and comics as well as wargaming figures and material. It's on South Sea Island which is a part of the Vancouver Airport.

They are the best.

Another vote for Imperial Hobbies. It's a great hobby shop and solid supporter of the wargaming hobby

Imperial Hobbies is awesome. Take lots of money!

Thanks all.

I'll be sure to swing by there and bring lots of $$

Thanks. I'll be there in a couple of weeks, as an excursion from a trip to Seattle.

Gaying07 Jun 2018 2:13 p.m. PST

I will be there again in a few weeks and will make my pilgrimage to imperial games – their nice new store is not as close to the sky train as before – but the walk is do able

There is a bus that goes there from Bridgeport Skytrain Station but note it dos not run on Sundays. You want to get off at Russ Baker Way and Gilbert RD. link

Thanks for the information on the bus routes

Was there ever a wargame store in North Vancouver? I seem to remember going there but that was many years ago – memory gets confused over the years!!

wrgmr108 Jun 2018 8:51 a.m. PST

Yes, there was a short lived store in North Vancouver. It closed some years ago.
Francis, the owner of Imperial Hobbies is a great guy. The store is large with lots of everything as Glengarry5 says.

Ask for him and say you are from out of town, and mention you found out about his store from TMP and Thomas Moore. He will most likely give you a discount.

Thanks "wrgmr1" for that gem of advice – don't you just love the TMP world and everybody who lives in it

"Checkpoint Charlie's" was a game in North van but closed years ago. There's a newer shop in North van called "Hammertime Hobbies" that looks promising, but I've never been there myself.

wrgmr108 Jun 2018 6:41 p.m. PST

Thanks Colin! I didn't know about Hammertime Hobbies. Looks a tad small and concentrated on fantasy and Star Wars. But they do have FOW.
As you say promising.

Imperial Hobbies carries a fair amount of historical figures as well, OG, Perry, Victrix, Warlord, PSC, Armourfast, FOW, LOTS of models and a few others. Plenty of rules and scenario books and a large selection of historical books

Damn, thanks for all this guys.

Looking forward to spending some time in there. My wife, not so much :)

There's lots of places for both of you. Granville Island is a great place to go for the market, shops and restaurants.

Thank you all who recommended Imperial Hobbies.

What an amazing store. Do NOT bring a credit card with you however. Ugh……did some serious damage in that place.
