Looking for "old style" 18th century rules with figure removal and easy to remember mechanisms. To suit 24 man battalions, 12 man regiments. My only prejudice is against retaining hands of cards and too many steps for firing, EI two steps good any more is time wasting :p.
Obviously I don't care how old they are just the style. Looking to use for Imagi-Nations.
Any help appreciated.

"Field Regulations" by John Grossman? Published by TSR c. 1976. For shooting just count figures, roll a die, and do some simple arithmetic. Suggested unit sizes: 24- fig. line battalions, 8- fig. cavalry squadrons, 12- fig. grenadiers and lights; the rules can be pretty flexible if you prefer a slightly different organization.

Fife and Drum miniatures rules. One page; easy to learn and provide a fun and fast game. Easily adaptable. You can down load the rules for free at the web site. Jim has versions for American Revolution and Seven Years War.

There is also a great , illustrated tutorial on how to play the rules here:

Brom's rules for Napoleonics, ACW, Colonial, Franco-

Prussian, AWI, etc.

Simple yet subtle.

Second recommendation for Larry Brom's rules.
His FPW rules, Chassepot and Needlegun has been my favorite and will work great.

His others do as well.

Charge would work fine increasing "company" strength to 24 and calling it a battalion.
