…The Afghan Interior Ministry.

"Several militants dressed in U.S. military uniforms opened fire outside the Afghan Interior Ministry on Wednesday, before being fatally shot by security forces, the top U.S. commander in the country said.

The attack began as 10 militants, traveling in armored vehicles, gathered outside the interior ministry in Kabul, according to The Associated Press. Two militants then detonated suicide bombs, allowing the others to pass through a gate at the ministry.

Trademark Taliban modus operandi. Their most notorious such raid was on Camp Bastion in 2012, when two marines were killed – including a LtCol – and eight Harrier jump jets were damaged or destroyed.

One of the media reports here in the US said that the US uniforms they used were out of date and the security force recognized them as such.

Israeli Mossad Motto: "By deception thou shalt do war"

Yes, a month or so back when the newest Entebbe film was in theaters, it caught my interest so I started researching the raid. I read that some/all of the Israelis wore Ugandan military uniforms to help bluff their way closer to the target.

One account I read was that the Israelis knew Idi Amin was driven around in a black Mercedes limo. Israeli command sent someone out to buy a similar vehicle but could only find a white one. They bought it anyway and took it back to base and painted it black. It turns out that Amin got a white vehicle just before the raid took place so they could have saved the time and paint. All's fair in love and war.

The most notorious example of this deceptive tactic was Otto Skorzeny's Operation Greif during the Battle of the Bulge of course.
