Received a nice note on my FB Anglo-Zulu war feed concerning the free download of Black Powder Rules on PDF. Just downloaded a copy.

Even if you do not use or like these rules, they make for good reading.

Enjoy

I have BP and HC but these are handy to have on my iPad for travel etc, or for the search facility. A nice move, and I guess they have seen sales dwindle, so a push to get people to use the. And so buy supplements

Good marketing to my way of thinking, so I am happy

I've picked up digital BP (which I have a hard copy of), HC and P&S from the UK store.

Thanks for the heads up.

Excellent. Thanks for sharing.

Are they coming out with a new version of BP? That might be a reason for the free download.

That wouldn't explain the other downloads, though.

The free downloads are for a limited time. Give away rules, maybe sell some more miniatures as a result? I already own them, but nice to have an official pdf. Picked up some other free downloads.

I wish they would give Bolt Action 2e as a free download. I already own 1e and really don't want to buy the rules again since I play solo. I know I'm cheap, but also lucky if I play once a year. ;-)

Thanks. I wanted to see how the P&S book approached Reiters for my WSS armies but didn't want to buy the book for one rule!

I wanted to see how the P&S book approached Reiters for my WSS armies but didn't want to buy the book for one rule!

You may not get a satisfactory answer. For WSS, I believe you'd need "Last Argument of Kings" which is a Black Powder supplement and not for Pike and Shotte.

Pike and Shotte has two supplements, "To Kill and King" for the ECW and "Devil's Playground" for the Thirty Years War.

Both rule sets are rather generic. If you want to know how a specific unit fought for a specific conflict, you'll need a specific book for that conflict. Or make it up based on what you already know.
