Looking for Napoleonic wargamers in the Southern California area to get together for some gaming. We are out there we just need to hook up! We have a small group that has played 15mm Napy's for years and we are looking to rebuild and expand the group, the more the merrier! We have been using Bill Greys excellent "Age of Eagles" for at least 10 years, it's fast, easy, fun, and allows players to fight big battles in a reasonable amount of time. We can teach the rules if needed, and new comers will be treated gently!
Most of us are in the north Los Angeles/ San Fernando area but will travel as well. We have several places to game at the moment and our selection of troops and terrain is first rate (new players can show up with nothing but a good attitude!) Games generally happen Friday nights, Saturday or Sundays, we work them out as we can.
Please contact us at vonkluge@ca.rr.com or a PM here if you are interested. Some of our games are posted up on HistoricalHobbies.com

If into the 15mm sized napoleonic gaming WR recommends the Santa Clarita group.

Been a napoleonic player since 1975 but I use a different club based rules set now in Version 2.0. They are nothing like the big blob Black Powder battalions of 24-36 miniatures. We use a 1:80 to 1:100 miniature scale ratio so the number of painted miniatures required is considerably less for a unit. Warren members game in two locations, SFV Winnetka and down south in Redondo Beach… team battles common with 4-6 players per side. Almost always historical scenarios with 1:1 units on the tabletop at the warren, pick up scenario down south… typically the actual unit painted since the WR collection number north of 23,000 personally FRW/Imperial napoleonic era painted 25/28mm miniatures. The other members have other large size collections. Sorry, no 15mm napoleonic miniatures in WR collection. Prefer to see the units across the tabletop and in the camera viewer. Tables from 6x8 to the grander 6x16 using the expanding WR terrain collection of forty years. Odd battles or periods commonly seen on the tabletop, not the typical Waterloo or Quarte Bras. Recently played a small five player War of the Oranges 1801 scenario for the battle of Arronches (Spain vs. Portugal fighting the old 18th Century way. Typically a themed lunch for the battle that day is served for all the players who make the trip to the warren. All scenarios posted to the blog Wargamerabbit since YR2011 with background and the AAR. If interested… contact information under "About the Wargamerabbit" tab in the blog.

Hey WR…. remember me? we have known each other for many years…was the Pres of HMGS/PSW at one time…before the "Brain" trust ran it into the ground. You have a great group but we are looking for players for our group and like using the AOE rules so we can play with others across the globe. Yep your terrain and blog have been a main stay in So Cal for years, keep it up!

and Thank You Flashman! if you like my site subscribe and dont miss post! some great how to's on the way…

Marc, don't torment yourself. Do what the rest of the US does, and focus on California's wildfires, mudslides and earthquakes. Or you could visit almost any of the United States in July or August, and find out why we're all nuts about ice and air conditioning.

I've been to London. Many worse places to be a miniature wargamer, and I've lived in a number of them.

Von K….. Yes I remember you, including your days as the HMGS PSW President. I stop in on your blog once a month to see your activity. Known about the AoE gaming for years. Keep it up…. plus the old Bengal club scene.

Stephen Phenow's SFV group with Dan and others play in 15mm using his La Bataille rules. Near to AoE scaling I think. On occasion Dan and others who play with Steve join in at the warren. So there are many gamers in the SFV…. pity we all use different rules and miniature scales. Toss in the 28mm big battalion and big painting requirement BP crowd and we would have critical mass. But like ancients rules scene…. we all go are separate ways. I use Clash of Empires for ancient gaming… a WAB knock off. Still, our long time (some 40 years together) group of napoleonic players numbers near twenty "semi-regulars" looking at the email lists, a core of twelve solid regulars for most games, and maybe six for the SFV region who travel to the warren for gaming, nearly equal to the larger BP groups down south. Just cannot get the BP habit of painting large battalions of 28mm miniatures, with large tabletop footprints, and call them regiments… or worse, brigades on the tabletop.

Hopefully gonna put on a 28mm Black Powder Nap game in a month or so for the Bengalis. Finally got enough Austrians painted. Division size.

I'm located in Solvang and have a collection of 25/28mm Napoleonics. Interested in meeting other players

HappyHussar08 Dec 2018 12:16 a.m. PST

A good friend of mine named Bob lives in Valencia, Calif. and has a huge collection of 25mm castings. He mainly plays Empire V but could be open to trying another set of rules if you are willing to play Empire V as well. Fun fellow and is building a small group of newbie players at this time. If interested let me know and I will put you in touch with him.

Ok, Ken, I contacted my friend and just let me know a way for me to contact you so that you can give me your contact info.

I looked for an email link for you but it just says "verified." Does anyone know how to contact members via the forum? Is there another link I need to click on?
