Getting ready for Origins. We will be having a large game of The Hive and the Flame. These are going to be towers like a termite mound/wasp nest.

They started out as some sort of plant thing from Menards. I glued them down on some pink insulating foam, cut them to fit together and then spray foamed the Dickens out of them.

This will replace the attempt at fabric terrain we tried last year. We are going back to foam based hive structures.

Come see us at Origins!

They are just terrain? No combat within the hive… if those shapes are the visible part of the Hive?

Looks more and more like the kind of place the Sandkings would be happy to call "home"!

I invested heavily in the Bugs kickstarter from two hour wargames and their partner. I inbtend upon integrating their tunnels in my foam at some point. Maybe next year. Until then its surface combat only.

Is it too late to cut the towers in half, like the one in the top picture? Perhaps with a Dremel?

Ah, Dan you silly, silly boy. Do you think those are my only towers? Please not that in the picture of the big hive wall that some are obviously damaged and collapsed. I will, at some point, being building some "shattered" towers as well. Maybe for next year.

My Russian is really bad, what the heck is this very cool looking thing?

I think the maquette is part of an old underground Soviet missile base in or near Kiev:

"the Pervomaysk Missile Base in Ukraine, formerly Base 46 of the USSR Strategic Rocket Force group."

I think that if you cut out the backs of your new hive towers and add just 4 floors to each tower, that will give you lots of underground combat options.
