I'm putting together a unit of Canadian Sedentary militia for the battle of Ridgeway in 1866 from the Wikipedia description below:

plus several dozen armed volunteer civilians, county sheriffs and magistrates, revenue officers and two Frontier Constabulary officers and two chaplains, Presbyterian David Inglis and Methodist Nathaniel Burwash, first chaplains in history to accompany Canadian troops onto a field of battle,

Any suggestions as to the uniforms and/or badges of the of the various officers and sheriffs?

I'd not heard of the Frontier Constabulary before seeing your post, so I went to Google and did a little digging. Best I could find on the Western Frontier Constabulary was in this article on its first (and only) head: link

If I understand the limited information, the constables didn't have uniforms, and functioned more as plain clothes detectives and counter-espionage/counter-terrorist investigators. Civilian clothes would be most appropriate.
