…Thursday afternoon at the White House, President Trump presented Slabinski with the Medal of Honor for his actions – getting wounded team members off the mountain and directing devastating close-air-support against the enemy…

I saw that in the news … Well deserved …

BW195924 May 2018 6:19 p.m. PST

I stand corrected it was Sgt Chapman (& Airman Cunningham)

Considering my branch, I don't have much pleasant to say about this situation.

What branch are you Whitedog?

TheWhiteDog25 May 2018 6:26 a.m. PST

Was Air Force.

The more that comes out about the inter-service politics of this one, the more I wish the Navy would have left it alone. Slabinksi is a good man, but Takur Ghar was a ClusterBleeped text of epic proportions.

With the controversy over what happened to TSgt Chapman, this situation will have some lasting effects.

People that weren't there second-guessing people that were and now must live with the consequences. Nothing new.

Indeed …

BW195926 May 2018 7:30 a.m. PST

Not really, not saying Slabinski didn't earn it, but why is the US Navy delaying Chapmans medal?

TheWhiteDog26 May 2018 2:42 p.m. PST

That's a simple answer; if Chapman gets the medal that means the SEALS made a mistake, and left him behind.

A great example how poor recon, upper echelon C&C mistakes, friction, fog of war and poor but well-meaning decisions can build into a perfect storm of a bad operation.

Or as I was told by some of the "old timers" … Bleeped text happens …
