"Playing a table top role playing game can take a long time. A lot of people will play in the same group for many years, if not decades and while a lot of people say they have less time for gaming as they get older, most players will spend their entire lives playing in one way or another. Despite this life long love affair with RPGs, many players will tell you that their favorite memory of gaming is from when they were very young or when they had just been introduced to the world of RPGs. With that in mind, we asked our fans and followers for their favorite childhood memories of gaming and their early experiences with the hobby that we all love. Here are some of our favorite responses:…." Main page Amicalement Armand

I'm afraid I wasn't a child when RPG games were invented. When I was a child role playing was just called playing. Robin Hood one day, Pirates of the seven seas the next (we even had our own boats – well, rafts). |

I have no childhood memories of RPGs. D&D didn't come along until graduate school. |

Not Knowing what a Mtradon was ( 3 lvl fighter) and turning it into a giant armour turtle in the original D&D. |

Playing all night with my friends! Sometimes until dawn, then the local diner for food. A friend throwing his d20 across the room after rolling a 1 to save vs Lloth, a bard and my wilderness warrior doing constant battle vs Nanthir the evil Cleric. |

Many of my best memories are of simply looking through the various rulesbooks, drifting along on the atmosphere each presented and imagining possible adventures: the superb art in first edition AD&D books (so many stories suggested there!), following the adventures of Rurik the Restless and his friends in Runequest, dreaming of how to run an adventure in Bunnies & Burrows, where the Great Horned Owl up in the tree was as scary and deadly as any troll… I spent many happy hours doing stuff like that. Some great times playing too, of course! |

1st edition when I was sophomore in high school. Back when there were more holes in the rules than actual rules. |

Not childhood, but I met my wife in a D&D group in college. 23 years and she still hasn't made her saving throw to resist my charms. |

High School not childhood. Rolling up 3-4 characters a session to see if one made it the the next session |

Growing up in Iowa we were not allowed to have rocket propelled grenades as they were deemed dangerous? Perhaps we were just a little more conservative then most? Regards Russ Dunaway |

Secondary school, so teenager and already girls were pushing back against gaming oriented, let alone the fledgling D&D RPG. |

The camaraderie and friendship. My best memories are tied to the stupid spontaneous stuff the players did because we were young and did not think things through. You cast a fireball at the city watch and incinerated them when they tried to arrest you for bringing your Griffin mount inside the city limits, what did you think would be the response of the nobillty?

Thinking back, there aren't that many memories of the events of the games themselves, but tons of memories of time spent with some of the best friends I ever had. And we didn't just play RPGs; we had picnics, went rappelling, waterskiing, sailing, canoeing…whether in our minds or in real life, we made adventure together! |

Sadly I think of all the girls that slipt away due to weekends spent with da boyz playing D&D |
