…straight out of the bottle, no mixing. Thanks.

No mixing? How about drybrushing?
I use a hue lime Citadel Dark Flesh, thinned slightly, and drybrush with Ceramcote Medium Flesh.
The Citadel probably has a new name now, but also has a Vallejo copy.

I use maple brown or something like that from Ceramcote. It's a cross between flesh and beige, perhaps just a teensy bit too dark, but overall very good.

I use Howard Hues Native American Flesh. Have for years… You can get them here:

It's not as Brown as it appears on that swatch…

2 nd call for Howard Hues, although my bottle says Indian flesh. It's over 30 years old!

Winston Smith21 May 2018 10:11 p.m. PST

News flash!
That "Dark Flesh" is now called Mournfang Brown, or dome dumb ass name like that.

Dexter Ward22 May 2018 6:34 a.m. PST

I use a European flesh colour, then wash with 'Antelope Brown' ink. Gives a nice golden flesh tone.

Ceterman22 May 2018 8:10 a.m. PST

Nevinsrip, My "Indian Flesh" finally gave up the ghost 2 years ago after about 25 years! I bought another bottle at H-con last year. And yep, it's now called Native American. I guess that will last me till I die!

I have used the Howard Hues one as well.

Mirosav22 May 2018 11:12 a.m. PST

All the the Howard Hues skin colors are great.

I've had some HH paints in the past & they were always so thick. It was like trying to brush on glue.

I've been using the Army Painter tanned flesh with a wash of strong tone. It looks good for Northeastern groups. I also add much war paint to break up the flesh areas.

nevinsrip22 May 2018 7:54 p.m. PST

I also use the old Musket Minis Indian Flesh which as a nice weather-beaten hue to it.

bruntonboy22 May 2018 11:03 p.m. PST

Colour Party Native American or Red Indian acrylic (can't recall what they call it) plus a highlight of some other european type flesh- whatever is handy on the painting tray at the time.

Ceterman23 May 2018 6:19 a.m. PST

Coopman, It's called "add water"!

mildbill23 May 2018 12:07 p.m. PST

Raw Sienna right out of the bottle.

coopman23 May 2018 4:37 p.m. PST

I hear you, Ceterman. I'll give that a try. Ordered a bottle from Monday Knight last night.

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP24 May 2018 6:35 a.m. PST

I enjoy experimenting with flesh colors and just ordered some bottles like coopman above.

I've never used HH's paint: any tips for working with it – ?

Ceterman24 May 2018 9:42 a.m. PST

Joe, They are a thicker paint, I'll give Coopman that. Just thin a bit. I prime black & that's one reason I like them. They Cover!

Ceterman: understood, thanks!
