I've been searching around the internet for a source of a list of NATO codenames for soviet equipment. There appears to be plenty of information on aircraft but little on the ground equipment. Anyone know of any sources online ? Thanks, Niall |

appreciate the replies, but neither link leads to any comprehensive listing. I was looking for anything that may give more in-deptch lists, including items like Silver Box. Copper Log etc. |

Formerly 298TYR, a long shot, but if you can get hold of it the "Observers Sighting Alert System" MOD 1984 is what you want. It was designed for SF patrols during time of war, but we held also them in BAOR Int Dets for Flag tours in east Berlin. I still have mine if there is anything specific you are after. Tally Ho! |

Thanks Nick, useful information as ever from yourself ! There are some specific items I am looking for; mainly the type of stuff anoraks like myself would be interested in, Comms and HQ vehicles. I've lots of USMLM annual reports and some of the Brixmis stuff that is now available online, as well as several books that mention stuff I can't ever recall seeing elsewhere. Silver Box series of vehicles is one I've seen mentioned, along with Copper Brick which I believe is part of the same series. If you are able to help, I'd be really grateful, thanks ! |
