So having gotten into Star Wars Legion recently, I decided early on I wanted to have three basic environments to play games in: The standard green forest, a snow planet, and a desert planet. Those three would cover the most iconic places in the Star Wars universe or at least the most basic and versatile ones.

I've bought a good amount of 3D printed terrain for this game in the form of bunkers, laser towers, crates, and moisture vaporators.

But when it came to the actual landscape, I couldn't justify buying that stuff, it's just too darn easy to make!

I already have a huge amount of forests and hills from Warhammer, etc. For snow tables I already had a large tarp painted white. For desert/wasteland tables I already had a tarp painted in brown.

So all I needed was some modular pieces to spread around a 4 x 6 board.

In the end it came down to just needing to do like six pieces for each board, not an overwhelming amount by any means.

For both worlds I used the classic insulation foam carved into desert and rock shapes. I added pine bark chips to the Tatooine pieces for rock formations. I coated the Tatooine pieces with craft sand and painted them a brownish/yellow color. For the Hoth pieces I simply base coated them in black and will use snow paste to cover all the smooth, sanded snow areas, and then just drybrush the rock areas in gray.

Here's some progress pics:
