I'm working on a Korean War project in 28mm scale. Does anyone know if there are buildings in this scale available? Perhaps something close, like for a model railroad, is available, but I can't seem to find anything out there.
I suppose I could scratch-build something, but it would be easier to find an existing model. |

Funny… but, from the photo it is impossible to tell which century buildings you are in search of. From 1592 at war with Japan to modern day, might be either, or any in between. It kind of resembles a Vietnamese hooch… to me. Oshiro has a new line of Korean buildings that will be available in July. I'm waiting for those! link |

I was going for Korea 1950-1953, but I suppose the farm buildings are pretty timeless… |

It struck me a while back how common the stucco with thatched roof thing is, and it's not as easy to find as desert/flat roof, Mediterranean tile, half-timbered and early North American, which seem to be the standards. In smaller scales, I've found suitable buildings described as Ukrainian and Viet. In 28mm, though, if you're really being fussy, notice how the interior floor is raised a bit? There's a fire under traditional Korean homes, and channels to distribute the hot air to heat the floor instead of the European hearth and chimney. Very distinctive. And yes, I suspect they looked much the same when the Samurai passed through. |
