Hi, all,

I'm looking for recommendations for a good post-apocalyptic car combat game, à la Mad Max movies or similar. There's a lot out there, from the venerable SJ Games Car Wars, through Gorkamorka and up to Mad Maximillion and beyond! I'm looking for:
- fast, easy play
- rules or guidelines for building your own cars (taking a car, pickup or motorbike and adding weapons)

What do you like, what don't you like, what is worth me giving up my hard earned $$$ for?

Thanks in advance!

All the cool kids are playing Gaslands this season

My club has just started Gaslands and it has been going down very well. A fun little game, once you get your head round is rather simple.

Has all the vehicle building your after too, including weapons for crew as well.

So might be ideal if you wanna race around shouting "Witness me!"

Cheers

We do Gaslands! using 1:32 and 1:35 model cars… had to make few rules adjustments, but great fun. I wholly recommend Gaslands! as a game. You can write your own background if you like, we did :)

Pocket Box Car Wars – stay away from all the advanced stuff and it goes well.

axles and alloy is also good.

Another vote for Gaslands. I recently started playing and it's a really great system.

I'm not a big fan of the idea of templates for movement.
How are you Gaslands players liking them?

Looks like lots of fondness for Gaslands, and as an Osprey Game, it's pretty affordable. Does it include motorbikes?

Gaslands has everything from motorbikes to buses to tractor – trailer rigs to tracked vehicles.

Great fun.

I'll give a shout for Maximilian over Gaslands. Simpler system, plays well and allows building of your own vehicles. The only problem from your request is that it is designed for 1930's era vehicles, but allowing for poor condition and scarcity of weapons in a post-apoc setting this is not much of an issue. Maximilian is designed for larger sized vehicles – 28mm, so using smaller vehicles would need adjustments to movement and ranges.

I'm looking to play with 28mm vehicles, and scarcity of weapons would be a plus, so Maximillian is definitely worth considering if it plays better than Gaslands.

I too am looking for a fats fun post apoc type car game. I know Gaslands is popular, but the video on YouTube showing how it plays gave the impression of slow action and lots of die rolling????

HELP! My PC won't let me download the PDF file for Axles and Alloys. Can anyone send it to me since it's free anyway?

Gaslands and Devils Run! I can recommend both.
