CAmpaign for Unpainted Minature People and minimalist painted minatures. Too often we who play are made to feel second class citizens because we spend little or no time painting our minatures, instead we play! It is time we demanded equal respect, It is socially acceptable to play games with crude scenary and unpainted or simply sprayed minatures! It is not an aspiration of CAUMP members to have ridiculously over painted minatures as you can't see the detail anyway if you are Playing instead of Gongoozeling.

Join me and assert your rights as CAUMP members! :-).

CAUMP is a racist organization as they are opposed to the diversity of palette seen in painted figures (decently to professionally painted). They are infringing upon my "SAFE ZONE" of painted figures and beautifully crafted terrain pieces.

Just say NO 2 CAUMP

If we are to use Unpainted Guys in our games, whi not just use paper tokens instead? We could have a 20mm square with "LMG" or "Rifle" handwritten on it.

Is there a 12 step program to help bring them back into the hobby?

redbanner414514 May 2018 11:28 a.m. PST

I'm not ready to join Caump but I do think those who paint but never play are not really wargamers.

Stryderg14 May 2018 12:26 p.m. PST

Nice catch there Daithi.
I motion that we expand the membership of CAUMP to inlcude paper based tokens and miniatures and change the name to:
CAmpaign for Paper And Unpainted Minature People

CAPAUMP!

UshCha14 May 2018 2:03 p.m. PST

NEVER let flat tokens darken CAUMP's door, CAUMP is for Minatures. Flat paper tokens with writing on are utterley unmacceptable in ANY minature game. They are BOARD GAME items incompatible with the aims ands objectitives of CAUMP. CAUMP however will extend our membership to Flats and other semi flat minatures provided they adhere to the painting standard of CAUMP.

I did do some troops using various angles of card (minimaly painted of course). They were perfectly acceptable but far to much work to be a production solution. A laser cutter would reduce the problem but assembly would still be a pain.

LONG LIVE CAUMP!

"(…)whi not just use paper tokens instead? We could have a 20mm square with "LMG" or "Rifle" handwritten on it."

Yes, but what color ink pens? ;-)

I would join, but the initial fee, on-going dues
(WEEKLY !!) and the initiation rites are massively
off-putting…

UshCha15 May 2018 7:20 a.m. PST

You should However understand that being a gaming association and not u de the evil hand of commercialism the funding requirement is only virtual(I would use the term Monopoly Money) but that is a Board game and hence is inappropriate for CAUMP).

Do you have meetings?

Of course they do! And they even serve brownies …

Some assembly required.

Ed Mohrmann Supporting Member of TMP15 May 2018 4:06 p.m. PST

So Brownies can join ? How about Cub Scouts ?

Zephyr115 May 2018 8:53 p.m. PST

No, no, don't let the brownies join; Some of them are nutty…

;-)

Bashytubits15 May 2018 9:29 p.m. PST

You guys are missing etotheipi's humour, those are the ingredients for brownies, metaphorically unpainted brownies.
Plus, what about the people with paper miniatures that have painted miniatures scanned onto the paper? Are they now to be excluded from this minimalist endeavor? Do they have to have them drawn in outlines or black and white to be included? These are some deep philosophical ponderings. Shakespeare put it best, "2D or not 2D, that is the question."

That's just the best band name, ever!

Bashiotubits, is a true true philosopher, except we all know the answer to "life the universe and everything" already, its 42, and that we just need rigidly defines area of doubt and uncertainty.

Being more practical, Flats from Junior General are just about acceptable, not too much detail or variety of colors. Really well decorated flats such as are sometimes shown in the "Flats" board could not in the wildest imagination be described as minimalist painting and thus are condemned as "Art" and have no place in CAMUP.

Bashitubits does pose some great philosophical questions.

Star Wars players in particular have been blessed with some superb Minimalist models. I have even seen a large ATAT done with simple flat card and their ship models including Star destroyers are breathtaking miniatures for game play. They are by no means minimalist painting and I feel such style models have not be exploited to anything like the extent they could be for war gaming. While not being my interest, I have seen models of modern aircraft done similarly and they look excellent. It does beg the question whether there should be another group to champion there in a way minimalist cause against the ravages of the War Painters. Not Real CAUMP material as the printing is far too detailed.

HOWEVER we at CAUMP would be prepared to joint a wider federation with such folk against the tyranny of excessive detailed miniatures and wasting valuable playing time painting miniatures.
