What out there in this scale isn't $20 USD a pop?

I don't mind spending that on a tank, but are there cheaper alternatives for halftracks/AC's?

Thanks

If by 28mm you mean anywhere from 1/48 to 1/50 to 1/56 scale? I do not believe you will find anything in a vehicle that is under $20. USD

I suppose there are cardstock print-fold-glue models that would fall under that limit. But if you are talking plastic or resin, I think you are out of luck.

If you are not in a hurry, then you can subscribe to Warlord newsletter. They run specials on a regular basis. A recent one was buy 3 get cheapest one free. If you order nothing but $30 USD tanks you bring the price down to around $22 USD (for example).

Blitzkrieg Models run a sale every now and then. Last year, every Monday, they put something on sale for 50% off. You needed to check their Facebook page every Monday to see what it was. I picked up a number of models that way (but always wanted some non-sale stuff too).

Sadly, they have not done the Monday sale yet this year.

However, even without checking Facebook, if they put something on sale, the price will be reflected in their online store:

And Rubicon have a nice (and growing) line of plastic kits. But they are not under $20. USD

What SeattleGamer said -- you'll have a tough time getting light armor for under USD20. As he notes, you *can* get papercraft models for free or very little. Here's an M3 halftrack in 1:31(?!?) -- just scale it down 55%: link

trucks and half tracks cost as much to make, if not more than a tank.

They are in the $30 USD range, but there are many different tanks in 1:48 on Shapeways. All of my French and many of my Germans are 3D printed from Shapeways. They are excellent. I also have quite a few Blitzkrieg 1:48, and the are quite good too.

28mm is expensive. The only saving grace about the scale's cost is that you don't need much of anything. If you do need a lot, you may want to consider 15mm or my favorite before my eyes failed me, 20mm. Even a 20mm tank will cost you these days.

A 2-dollar Airfix tank seems like a lifetime ago, because it was.
