Did these guys wear the tall plume on campaign or pack it away? I am under the impression that it was only worn as part of the 'parade' dress. I am painting up a commission for a friend and the Front Rank Russian hussars do not have the tall plume. And no I don't want to add one. LOL . Thanks all.

Can't say for sure but Russians do seem to like those plumes in battle paintings.I like them on my figures if they had them often painting a dress uniform rather than battle uniform.

Guess our Croatian Russian wil know…
But if the figs don't. Why bother.

Leonov, Popov & Kibovskii do not give any indication that the plumes would be removed, and I would be very surprised if that were the case.

I'm with frog here--don't sweat it. That said, Russian Guard coverage in general is not great and would be a great opportunity for a 28mm manufacturer. (hint, hint grin )

"Croatian Russian" …. actually more Anglo-Scots-French American.

"On campaign" : packed away …. however, on a day of an expected battle (such as Borodino), they would wear the plumes.

Really, I'm with JC Frog and Jeffrey – don't sweat it.

Why not ask Front Rank and see if they have any info to back up their decision not to have the plumes on their figures?

Who reads ruski… And has tons of docs…

If you want put some plumes. Miss some already shot away.;)
The pb esp in 28 mm is to make them very similar otherwise it would be worse than not having any.
